Samara "Mara" Gomez was just 7 years old when she met Natalie "Nat" Scatorcioo. They had lived in the same trailer homes making them instantly become friends. They connected over many things including music, clothes and their fathers,  Samara had never liked her father. Him being the reason her mother left leaving her to deal with him till she turned 18. She was used as something to take out anger from, always being called a disappointment , a dyke or a mistake.

Mara had a older brother Tony he was already 19 but was still waiting to leave with his sister, away from the shitty town they called home. There was a change of plans thought...

One night after their dad got shitfaced at a bar, he came home to see Mara with a girl not just any girl the girl was, Lottie Mathews. The girl left as fast as she could scared Samaras dad would say something. As she left, Maras dad took out all his anger on her. As he was going to hit her once more Tony came home and took the hits for her. After that night Tony had landed himself a trip to the hospital where he was never to be seen again, leaving Samara to deal with their father alone.

"Dear Mara,
I am so sorry for leaving you kid, I just can't do it no more. I can't deal with this pain everyday. I'm heading up south but I'm leaving you my motorcycle be safe. When you hit 18 come find me alright. I'll be waiting for you. Remember your not alone you always got me. I love you so much Mara - love always Tony"

The next day, Maras dad didn't recall anything of what had happened the night prior. Realizing this Mara ran to Lotties house to explain everything and to not be scared. Upon her arrival Charlotte Mathews was shocked to see Maras face immediately offering to take care of her and from there they grew into something more but something they had to hide from everyone.
