I promised my mum I'd write to her. So I did, while the fairies were doing my hair. I was writing a letter to my mum. Occasionally, the fairies would put my head back so they could see how it looked.

I thought about writing about the food or the ceremony. Although, I don't have enough room to write a whole life story, so I kept it short and simple. That was when my roommate Daphne came in and asked me what I was writing. I told her about my letter, and that was when she pointed it out.

"You spelt nearly everything wrong, Hildy. Here, allow me. " she grabbed another piece of paper and started to rewrite everything.

I was thankful and offended, but I understood why. After a few minutes of writing she finally finished.

"There now you can send it to your mum."

Dear Mother,
I've been really liking this school so far. I've made more friends than I initially thought I would make, and my studies have been doing well. I still can't exactly focus in class enough, but they've been really helpful to me, my new friends, and the teachers I mean. I think this dyslexia is getting worse though. It's embarrassing enough to ask teachers to slow down. Other than that schools been good. Recently in class we were talking about our talents. I started talking about my baking, but they said that's more of a hobby. Instead I told them about the time when I was able to withstand a lightning strike. Some of the kids didn't believe me but some did. Some really good friends. I really miss you, and Marian, and Robin guess too. I hope this letter gets to you well.

With love: Scarlett

"Thank you, Daphne, I really appreciate," I spun to Daphne with a sincere smile.

I felt ashamed that she had to take over and correct my entire letter. Princesses are supposed to be flawless.

I folded the letter and placed it into an envelope. I walked over to the balcony with the letter. I pouted my lips to make a whistling sound. I waited a few seconds, which Daphne saw me waiting.

"What are you waiting for?" Daphne questioned.

From the sky, a dove glided down, gently landing on the balcony railing.

I gave the letter to the bird who held it in his beak.

"You know where to go my friend," I whispered to the bird.

"Woah," a voice said admiringly. "You can call birds? Are you a bird whisperer?"

I laughed at her assumptions. " I've always had a way of talking to birds. Not in a way of hearing them speak when they chirp but just being able to understand them. I don't know it's hard to explain," I scratched my arm

"By the way, could you keep it a secret?" I asked.

"Keep what a secret? You send letters to your mother?" She wondered.

"No," I shook my head. "I can't spell or read very well and I don't want many people to know."

"Hildy, that's nothing to be ashamed of. It's normal. You know you can get help with your dyslexia," she noticed my frown. "But I will respect your decision. If you need someone to write your letters for you feel free to ask me."

I agreed, thinking that would save me so much time, and I told her about when we would send letters to each other.

"My mother and I agreed we'd write every once in a while. The dove that sends the letters will take about a day or two to come back to me with a reply."

"That reminds me I should probably write to my dad," she tapped her chin.

Before turning to go back into the room she looked back at me with curiosity.
