I felt myself avoiding going out to stargaze again until I'd properly prepared for an intrusion. Such as being appointed a Prefect, the students i didn't like much, but made leaving after hours much easier.
Untill i began to notice him, the peculiar boy coming in and out of the old girls bathroom, it was much too late to catch any girls in there, so what was he doing?
Somehow, even after seeing the dark look on his face night after night, when our paths cross, I dont shy away, I countiue to look at the stars through the overhead glass.
"So finally taken a break from people watching?" He questioned as he stood behind me.
"For a moment yes, I don't need to hear thier exuses to know their just lonely or causing trouble."
Even I couldn't bite my tongue hard enough to know I was one of them before.
"Do you ever feel that way? Loneliness, I mean? Or do you always enjoy your own company?"
He pauses for a moment, and I can see his gaze on my back."And I wanted to thank you for our other little chat before I forget."
I almost felt my eyes burn into the stars above me, I didn't want to accept his thanks. He was clearly evil.
Up to no good. I shouldn't even be talking to him at this moment. "Don't, I see you as evil most of the time, like when you emerge from the bathrooms most nights consumed by yourself."
Stating the fact as blindly as I have could've been a death sentence, especially when I turned to see his eyes darken.
"How do you know what I'm doing in the bathroom?" Tom asks, confused. His eyes narrow suspiciously.
"I thought you were trying to avoid me? Does that mean you really were following me in secret? That's not strange in the slightest."
He laughs again, and this time I see there's no hiding his genuine amusement. "What else have you seen of me?"
He asks curiously, moving closer and standing beside me. "Are you hiding in the shadows and spying on me every night?"
I felt the need to groan, wishing he almost responded opposite to amusement, cause now he seemed almost flattered.
"I do not spy, only observe, and your on my patrol route." I say simply attempting not to look over at him as he loomed over my shoulder.
"Observe in secret is basically what most people call spying," He says, laughing at the obvious contradiction.
"Don't worry, I find the concept charming." He pauses, his own gaze following yours toward the stars.
"You know, I never would've guessed you'd be the type to enjoy stargazing. I had you down as the type to prefer reading in the library, or studying quietly in your own common room."
He smiles gently. "What makes you come here? Is it me, or the stars?" I couldn't deny the small curiously I had towards him.
His presence had always been an unknown, well until he made his cruelness known. So I answered loosely.
"If I told you that, I believe you would be disappointed either way." For the first time I looked at him, his hazel eyes peering down at me.
He leaned forward and I could almost feel his breath on me. "Try me. Who knows? I may be pleasantly surprised."
He looks down at me with curiosity. "Even the dark Lord might just have more depth than most people would think."
As he spoke I couldn't ignore the shine in the malicious look in his eyes. The shine of a star. Such a beautiful star.
"I don't believe that, your not inhuman, your just like me, you bleed, cry, feel"I lean in closer my eyes reading into him.
"Your no dark lord, just another scared boy looking for consistency in a world of unknowing."
He stares at me for a split second with surprise. Then he sighs and laughs.
"You're right, I'm no dark lord," He replies with a smile in his voice. "I am very much a human being. I wonder if you're the only one at school who believes that."
"Probably, but then again, not many would take my words to heart. Sometimes I feel lost." I murmur sitting down.
Spilling my guts to him didn't seem like the worst thing, cause I didn't have much to spill. "You're lost, too?" He asks softly, and his eyes are filled with sympathy when he looks down at me.
"Somthing like that." I say with a small smile my back laying against the stone cold floor.
