Y/N POV
I bounce my knee hearing the headmistress and parents arguing. I tilt my head turning my ear to them.
Woman: "We specifically requested a kid with a flame semblance. Yet he doesn't even have a semblance."
Maple: "I'm sorry if he did not meet your requirements. But I did say he had not manifested a semblance yet."
Man: "That's no excuse. Be ready to hear from our lawyers."
They barge out of the office. I look down when Maple takes a seat next to me.
Y/N: "I upset them didn't I?"
She places her hand on my back.
Maple: "Yes. But don't beat yourself up. I think this only proved that it's for the best they didn't keep you."
Y/N: "I just don't understand it. Why does it matter if a kid has a semblance? Shouldn't the kids be loved for who they are and not what they can do?"
Maple: "I know it's unfair. Being born without a semblance or an aura. But if you ask me, that just makes you infinitely more special."
I look at her.
Y/N: "How?"
She smiles.
Maple: "People with semblances and auras will think you're an easy target. They'll underestimate you. But due to your disadvantage you'll have worked harder than they ever dreamed of and will beat them blindfolded."
She wraps me in a tender hug.
Maple: "You're destined for greatness Y/N. Work hard and you'll prove that someone born under the worst odds, can rise to the very top."
I smile hearing her words. That night I lay on my back staring out the window at the fractured moon. I inhale smiling.
Y/N: "Just you wait world. I'm gonna train my butt off and be the best nonpowered Huntsman to have ever lived."
I flip onto my side falling asleep for the day.
*timeskip*
I walk down the streets of Vale just admiring the sights. Stopping by the park I take in all of its gorgeous sights. Taking a seat on a bench I let out a content sigh.
Y/N: "Now this' paradise. Nothing can ruin it."
Not even a second of saying that an alarm rings out.
Y/N: "I just had to say something."
I get up running towards the source of the commotion. Arriving I see police have surrounded a jewelry store. Peeking over the spectators I see a man in the window.
Cop: "You're surrounded. Come out with your hands up."
Man: "No way pigs! Either get that getaway vehicle or the hostages start dying!"
Cop: "What do we do?"
Cop2: "I don't know. The Huntsman won't be here for another half hour."
Cop3: "Those hostages won't last that long. We need to do something now."
Cop4: "That's next to impossible. The hostages will be killed the second we're spotted."
Cop: "Oum what do we do?"
I look over the building. Forming a plan I enter the building next to the jewelry store. Getting to the roof edge I exhale gaining some distance.
Y/N: "Please let this work."
I take off running as fast as I can. When the ledge gets near I leap with all my might. For a couple seconds I fly through the air. Eventually I land on the fire escape with my right ankle popping loudly. I cover my mouth as a muffled cry of pain escapes me.
Y/N: "That really hurt."
