As she stirred, her eyelids fluttered open, revealing the comforting sight of her mother, Estefina, seated attentively beside her. Disoriented, Josie blinked repeatedly, attempting to acclimate to the subdued lighting that bathed the room in a gentle glow.

As her gaze sharpened, she locked eyes with her mother, witnessing a blend of relief and joy reflected in Estefina's expression, a silent testament to the depth of maternal concern and love.
