The group of men, women, and children march.
carrying crates every so many people. Chanting their saviour's song, the harrowing tune of a hanged man. Relatable to all those in the district, as, after all, they may as well be dead.
Chanting, singing, crying out their own war cry, expecting deaths much like the one they sing for.
District 5 had many broken people, having lost many games and seen as useless and weak. Families expect death the minute their child is born.
expected it until Rowell incited change, Theo rolled their hopes, and Alec (the young victor of the 72nd games) United their anger at a common person after his whole family's death, a massacre that everyone knew the culprit of. Everyone knew the reas9n behind. Until Rosie, a girl thought so strong, yet broken won her games to be reunited with her boyfriend and family formed a family of her own, a whole district wide family that she never knew she had.
They had no hope, until they had too much. I'm reality all it took to rebel was a cause bug enough, and the girl on fire was that cause. But not their reason, not their motivation. No, all it took was one command from Theo, one video of Rowell, a snap of Rosie, all alive and fighting for them to realise that they now had what they want.
A cause to fight for, their family to fight for. All the dead children of their district, the family's killed to make a point. The dead that turned their district into a ghost town. That was their cause.
So, this is why when the bullets started firing rapidly, hitting their targets as aimed, they kept running.
why when their friends and family were shot down, they jumped over their bodies, carrying their crates of explosives towards their goal.
They wouldn't have time to mourn anyway, they all expected to be dead by the days end. all they could do was keep going.
Keep going the way their young Victors did, the way they are inspired to.
Keep going to their end, and light their bombs.
To die for their cause, so that maybe, maybe their children won't doe the way too many have.

Katniss' signing ended on the screen, the song that has become a beacon of hope and loss, one that reaches the heart of the districts, adding more fuel to the ever-growing fire of the rebellion. The ashes of District 12 finally have a purpose.
"That line was originally "necklace of rope." I had it changed to "necklace of hope." The sentence rang out around the small room. An ironic change, all things considered. They have no real hope; it's a gamble. It's costing lives; Finick couldn't help but think the first line worked better. Every district's seeing this, not the capital. He supposed there was some hope there after all. That finally, finally they were doing something.

Later that night, after tirelessly working on getting through his security system, one he worked on a little too well. The miracle of the war occurred. It unlocked. The security went down, going from red to yellow. Free access to do whatever they liked. The next move was to figure out what they needed to do and what they wanted to do.
Minutes later, Katniss, Finnick and Haymitch were in the command station, a small, cramped room designed for a few people. Far less than we were in there. They stood almost shoulder to shoulder as Coin told them of their plan. As they watched the latest video from Peeta. (I've been told I've spelt his name wrong this whole time, so here I am correcting it, lmao)
As usual, the capital seal lit up the screens. Peeta's face lit up the screen; it was thin, if possible thinner than it was before. Cheekbones are visible in a way that they shouldn't be a way that hollowed out his face and eyes. Eyes looking dead, emotionless. Or, to Finnick, who examined everything about his friend's face, a little sad. Devastated even. As if he was believing the lies the Capital is making him spew. A feat that should not have been possible to happen. Every time Finnick sees Peter on the screen, he can only think of what pain he has inflicted onto him. What hurt the others must also, too, be going through. Theo, his Theo. Presumed dead until Rowell told otherwise. She's not been seen since she attempted to escape near the massacre of capital guards. Neither of them had. A fact not missed by anyone. A fact that all makes them wonder Peeta's alliance, questioning why there have been no words from him about their whereabouts.
Steadily gaining forces in the revolution. Gaining reputation and, more importantly, fear. The capital is scared, going to more and more means to retaliate with impossible weaponry. They're dying, both sides. The revolution is more so. But they have spirit; they have righteous anger on their side.
"Tonight, we've received reports of derailed trains, granaries on fire, and a savage attack on the hydroelectric dam in District 5." Finnick sucked in a breath. He knew people there. From spending so much of his own time with Theo in the hidden corners of the district drinking and joking around while Rowell was training endlessly for a fight, she couldn't predict. (Or maybe had given the current circumstances)
"I'm begging for restraint and decency. We interrupt your regularly scheduled horse manure to bring you... – " Her face was heartbroken, hands covering her face in shock and horror.
"That's it. That's our footage. - Beetee's in." Finnick couldn't believe Coin. Looking at her in disbelief, a boy had been tortured to near death, and she has the indecency to look amazed and excited that Beetee sent footage.
"Katniss? -Katniss, are you there?- Katniss? His voice was broken, raw with emotion, his face visibly showing everything going through his mind. Finnick couldn't imagine seeing Theo in this state; it would be heart breaking. His respect for what Katniss is going through increases tremulously.
"Peeta, please continue. You were telling us about these savage attacks."
"Yeah." His voice was breaking, his breath practically coming out in heavy, heaving through his mouth. "The attack on the dam was a callous and inhuman act of destruction... " the propo cut back in, fizzing in and out of the screen, "Think about it. How will this end? What will be left? No one can survive this. No one is safe now. Not here in the Capitol. Not in any of the districts. They're coming, Katniss. They're going to kill everyone. And in District 13, you'll be dead by morning.!
He's warning us. That was a warning" Haymitch's voice was quick, tone harsh. The effect was instantaneous, everyone went into motion. The alarm begins to blare. Everyone was thoroughly startled.

Alec.
"there coming Katniss"
Retreating into the bunker, well the bunker that was underneath the already underground bunker. Passing screaming people, those rushing for safety. Coin had called to a routine drill to avoided fear and panic, yet everyone knew it for what it was. This is no drill. They had been warned, they needed to hide, or they would die.
Alec found that, being in this situation, he was restless. His name far enough away from Rosie's and Finicks that all he wanted was to run to them.
Spar with them. hug them. He needed to do anything, literally anything other than just sit here doing nothing listening to Annie's cry's and please of safety.
Note,
Yeh look, I do update... sometimes... okay no I don't. But i am today and hopefully soon again!
Okay, look. I've failed 3 out of 4 exams on my uni course, so I've been stressed and doing resorts. But having read and re-read every comment on this silly little fan fic, (I started writing six months ago when I was drunk)! I'm not ready to give up on it at all. So, I'm not.
Can't promise how frequent updates will be, but they'll be there. On all my fics, hopefully.
So, I've had a few questions as well. Why are the carers involved? Rowell has friendships with one, so dragged them into it, but had no real connection to two. And unlike the other districts, she would trust them to be apart of the rebellion... She just didn't have the rapport to approach them. Plus, if it went tits up it would be on her shoulders, her responsibility.
Any way, I'm aiming to do a Theo POV soon, as the capital lights go out and the rescue. next chapter and part one will be done.
