"Can anyone explain why you feel mental health is important today? Think in terms of yourself or the world if that helps and there is no right or wrong answer." Valentine asked to the class.

She taught fifth graders wellness and that included their mental minds which she felt her generation needed in school. Being able to teach young minds the foundation of wellness was one of the reasons she taught at her school most schools she applied for gave her generic roles like PE and Health and any time she brought up anything remotely mind related she was given a warning.

"Yes Anniese." Valentine pointed at her shy student.

"Well I have an uncle whose schizophrenic and he hears and see's things that aren't there my mom told me that her mom sent him to a psych ward aka a looney bin but my mom says that he just needed someone to talk to kind of like how you talk to us so I think mental health is important because we can all be more aware of others mental states without judgement." Valentine smile and gave feedback before moving to the next student.

"Hayden." Valentine nodded.

"My dad killed himself years ago but my mom said his life was hell since he popped out the womb did crack, went to jail, got out his mind was messed up he couldn't recover and his life repeated in a loop crack, jail, release over and over until he jumped into ongoing traffic on purpose. My mom makes sure no matter what that she's available to talk no matter the situation because she says if my dad would have simply voiced his emotions he could still be here with the help of someone willing to listen. It's important to me because I could've still had a dad I got a few memories but if he would've talked I would've had him forever." Hayden spoke.

"Im so sorry that happened Hayden and you are correct sometimes life is so hard that you go back to what you know it sounds like your father repeated a cycle he was familiar with although it was affecting his mental state. Im glad your mothers taking the steps to prevent your health from deteriorating sometimes all people need is an ear." Valentine said handing him a treat along with the previous student that shared.

"Valley." Valentine slightly smiled because it was the first time she had participated in a long time.

"Sometimes I have bad thoughts nothing too deep but sometimes I get in my own head my dad told me it's anxiety and when I get to nervous or anxious he takes me out of certain situations so that I can calm down. The last time I lost my mind and couldn't breathe and my dad was right by my side and on call with my mom as we recalled significant moments from my childhood. I got better and to this day I haven't had an episode but it's important to talk about because issues can start young I'm only nine and get overwhelmed so who knows what it feels like for a working adult who doesn't have a support system." Valley shared.
