He reluctantly declined the call, hoping it wasn't Madeleine. Or was he?

He had forgotten why he had gone with Madeleine, what the point of them leaving the kingdom was.

(he didn't forget i forgot and dont feel like reading my old chapters with my ass writing)

He couldn't get out of bed without thinking of Madeleine. He can't do anything without feeling the guilt. But why was he feeling guilty? He's supposed to hate him, he does.

"It's morning."

Affogato spoke while shaking Madeleine around.

Madeleine turns around, wiping his eyes.

"I have the worst hangover right now."

Latte walks up Espresso's small porch, knocking at his door, holding letters, coffee, and a donut box.
(i cant think of any other food)
She knocks on the door in a certain pattern.

Espresso hadn't heard the knocking, due to him hiding under his pillow, probably trying to block his thoughts out.

Latte sighs, kicking the door open.

"Woah, it's hot in here."

Latte drops all her stuff, turning on a nearby fan.

She walks into his room, seeing Espresso in bed.

"Good morning! I know I'm probably supposed to be mad at you but-"

Espresso tried to wipe his eyes trying to clear his vision as all the words that had came out of her mouth muffled in his head.

"-and it's Monday so I'm here."

"What?"

Espresso mumbled, fumbling his hands around searching for his glasses.

(he probably broke his glasses in the last few chapters but they reappear so yea)

Latte sighed, sitting down on the bed next to Espresso.

"Talk to me, we used to be so close. What happened?"

"Nothing happened, everything's fine-"

"You literally went missing for like a month with Madeleine and came back alone. You've been on the news, Espresso."

"Ever since you've like, started hanging out with Madeleine, you've been so distant."

"I don't hang out with Madeleine that often."

"You talk to him everyday. Or used to."

Latte spoke, looking down at her hands.

"Look, Latte, Im sorry."

"Espresso, talk to me."

"About what?"

"Everything. What has been going on lately? Why did you disappear for a month? Why are you hanging out with Madeleine?"

—★

Madeleine dragged his feet as Affogato walked beside him.

"Usually walks reduce my hangovers."

"I don't think it's working."

Madeleine says while walking in a jagged line.

"Hey, Madeleine, are you friends with Espresso?

—★

Espresso and Latte sat at a table inside his house.

"-So, remember Taiyaki? I don't remember if I had introduced you two already. But, there was this time, he had asked me if I was gay? What type of question is that? Isn't it rude to ask that? Anyways, I don't recall what I had said. And, I had also been getting rid of that sleeping problem. I don't know how, but I think going outside more has been helping. Ever since I had met Madeleine, my mental health has gotten so much greater."

"So do you like hanging out with him?"

"I mean occasionally. When I have the time."

Espresso glanced off, giving a small smile as he drank out of his cup.

"You seem to be talking way more than usual too. About, everything."

"It feels great talking about stuff."

"See! It's nice when you're an on break, workaholic."

"What is wrong with you?"

—★

Madeleine pretended to not hear him, kicking rocks as they walked back to his house(?).

"Madeleine, I know you can hear me."

"Hmm?"

Madeleine hummed while staring at the rocks that glided against the gravel flooring.

"Are you two friends?"

"You know, I actually don't know what we are. He's just so, ugh, mean! It's starting to get to me. I just, I think i'm starting to hate him."
