The party was a hit. We ate and danced and clicked hundreds of pictures; overall we enjoyed a hell lot. And in midst of our party I had over forty five missed calls of Divyashree aunty. Moms will be moms. I called her back. Now I had news for her. She answered the call in first ring as if she was waiting for my call.
AUNTY: "Where are you people? Why weren't you answering? Is everything alright? Are you guys okay?"
VAISHNAVI: "Oh my holy god! So many questions at a time? It was Vrishti's birthday we were partying. So I didn't hear your calls."
AUNTY: "Okay. You know that I panic. Well did you guys enjoy?"
VAISHNAVI: "Yes. We did. You know aunty, Ashu's smile is back. Vrishti's memories are back."
AUNTY: "That's real good news. Did he propose her? Did she agree? Tell me the details, Bittu?"
VAISHNAVI: "Relax sweetheart. He needs to confront his feelings. He himself has not accepted yet and you started his marriage plan. Give them time."
AUNTY: "Why are you young people so slow?"
VAISHNAVI: "Why are you old people so fast?"
And then we both bursted into laughter.
Vrishti came searching for me. She had to ask me about all what happened after that accident. I told her the entire story except Ashu's expressions which I had read, because I could not spoil their cute love story. I was waiting for ashu to accept his feelings. I was not sure about Vrishti. Perhaps Ashish was in one side love. Perhaps Vrishti had someone else in her life. Nothing was clear. I left it on destiny.
Next day, I called Ashish for a business meeting. When he saw me with investors, he was shocked. After the formalities, we looked forward for a cup of coffee and then, he bumped with a number of questions. He was sad and angry that I did not gave him such great good news. His lips trembled saying, "When did you join Avaahan? And how dare you not tell me? Is anything wrong between us? You're alright, aren't you?" "I am fine, Ashish. I just wanted to surprise you. That's it. And you were disturbed past days so I did not tell you about interview. You're so influential but I don't want to use my best friend's influence to get a job for myself. And we are your investors for next event, Mr. Raichand." I replied.
He seemed to be convinced a bit. He smiled and left. But Mr. Billionaire was angry with his best friend. I sent him flowers in his office. He called me back.
ASHISH: "What do you think of yourself? How dare you hide this big news from me? I hate you."
VAISHNAVI: "I am sorry. I just wanted to surprise you. You're best friend."
ASHISH: "Shut up!"
VAISHNAVI: "Enough! I am not your personal property."
ASHISH: "You don't know but you are."
VAISHNAVI: "Whatever. I hate you."
ASHISH: "Now smile."
VAISHNAVI: "You aren't angry. Are you?
ASHISH: "I am happy for you. Now smile."
VAISHNAVI: "Heehee. Happy now?"
ASHISH: "Very happy."
And we started laughing.
----------------------
This was another dramatic fight of us. He still taunts me that I hided the news from him. Vrishti was working with Ashish and they both were a great combination to make parties hit. Vrishti's ideas and Ashu's executions were deadly fantastic. Ashu decided to throw a three year anniversary for Divyashree events endorsing the turnover to 12 billion USD in a year.
The Maurya's presidency lounge was booked. The venue was decorated in sober peach and lavender colors. The hall was decorated with orchids, lilies and balloons. Everything was classy. Just up to the standard of Raichand's. I had got a parcel that evening with a card instructing to wear this particular dress. A red satin sari with a contrast blouse, and a pair of earrings, all in gold and a pair of silk work sandals. This happens especially when we are special to some people who are deadly rich.
I wore that and reached the venue. Everyone was busy congratulating ashu and I was trying to adjust with the high class party.
