Summer

I met you last summer.

You were sitting in the sand, not giving a damn about anyone else.

I laughed at your bright skittles swim shorts.

Staring from afar, I saw the damp strands of hair sticking to your forehead.

You were just there.

Not a clue that someone was out there observing.

You were you.

Sun bright, waves crashing, you soaked in the air of freedom.

Then next thing I knew, summer was over.

I didn't see you around again, until today.

I saw you sitting next to the jet ski rental area.

You were talking to some people, I'm assuming are your friends.

Just as I was going to walk away, your eyes met mine.

I know this may sound corny, but I felt fireworks.

Then, you waved.

I awkwardly waved back. You said something to the group, and started to jog over towards me.

Oh gosh.

Reaching me, you stopped for a moment to take a breath.

Finally you said, "You're that weird girl from last summer."

Weird?

"I didn't mean it that way. You're not weird, just a little creepy." You realized what you had said. "No not creepy! Awkward."

A bright blush rose on your cheeks. You ran your hand through your hair, then scratched the back of your neck."I'm not making it any better, am I?"

I giggled and looked down at the sand. When I looked back up I replied. "Not really. But I'm sure staring at you from the distance for a long period of time tops it."

You chuckled.

"I'm Noah."

"Quinn."

He smiled and held out his hands. "It's nice to finally meet you."

"You too."

I met you last summer.

I didn't have the guts to talk to you then.

But fate came around this time.

"I gotta get back to them." You hinted over to your friends, who were staring right at us. "We should hang out sometime."

Just now realizing our hands were still interlocked, we each let go.

"See you around."

"Yeah, see ya." I said back.

You walked back over to your group. Before I left, you looked over to me and smiled.

I couldn't help but smile back like a giddy little kid.

*P.S This is actually a short story I am planning on writing. It's going to be called Last Summer. First I need to finish some things I'm busy with now. I should start it soon though. I'll post an update in this book when I do start.*
