Monday came quicker than Midoriya was expecting. Although he made his decision Friday night, he thought he had more time to prepare to talk with his professor. But he didn't.
Now, he's sitting in his English Literature class, trying incredibly hard to listen to his teacher and not think too hard on what he's about to agree to.
He'd told Bakugou before class that he needed to stay to go over something with Professor Todoroki. The blonde argued with him at first, saying he was sure he could help with whatever it was, but Midoriya insisted it was something he needed to talk with their teacher about.
"Alright, that's all for today." Professor Todoroki closed the book they were currently reading and walked to his desk. Bakugou stood first and looked at Midoriya.
"Ya going to come to lunch after?" His glare remains from earlier, but Midoriya just smiles.
"Yeah, it shouldn't take too long." Midoriya shuffles his papers into his bag while Bakugou grabs his backpack from the floor.
"Whatever, nerd. Text me when you're on your way." Bakugou rolls his eyes and turns for the door. He looks over his shoulder and stares down their professor, who doesn't notice in the slightest, writing something in the notebook in front of him.
Midoriya huffs, waiting for Bakugou and the last of the students to leave before rising from his desk to approach Professor Todoroki.
Taking a deep breath, he goes over once more in his head what he wants to say before opening his mouth.
"Professor Todoroki?" His voice is shakey, but not as nervous as he feels.
The older male looks up and gives a closed-lip grin.
"Hello, Midoriya. Have you come to a decision on my offer?" He sets his pen down and laces his fingers together on top of the desk, giving his full attention to Midoriya.
"I have." Midoriya keeps his head high, showing he has no doubt in his choice. "I'd like to accept your offer." His right hand clenches and unclenches at his side as he wills his nerves to relax.
Todoroki breaks out into a large smile, one that seems odd as he'd never seen the man this happy before, yet it's still beautiful to Midoriya. "That's great to hear. Do you have the information on the cost for this semester?" He tilts his head to the side, eyes darting to the papers in Midoriya's left hand.
"I do." Midoriya clears his throat, bringing the information closer to his face, glancing down and taking another deep breath. "But I'd like to give you something in return." His cheeks grow red at how that sounds, but he stands his ground.
Todoroki frowns. "I told you, Midoriya, that is unnecess-"
"I know, but..." Midoriya interrupts and pauses. "But I want to. Please." Todoroki's brows scrunch as he considers.
"I don't know..." He's hesitant.
"I can clean your house? O-Or cook you food? Or help you in any way you may need it! You're an adjunct professor, right? And you said you have another job? So, maybe I can help with that? I-I just, I want to be able to thank you for what you're doing for me."
Todoroki sighs, looking down at his hands still laced on the desk.
"Alright, Midoriya." Todoroki looks up again, face completely serious, causing Midoriya to suck in a harsh breath. "I will consider your offers and can let you know. How about that?"
Midoriya takes a second to register his teacher's words. It's only fair considering the professor let him think about his offer.
"Of course, professor. Thank you." Midoriya gives a bright smile before handing the papers over. Todoroki takes them graciously, putting them in a folder and closing his notebook from before. Then, he put his materials away into his briefcase before standing up.
