The drive isn't long, but it's nothing short. It feels similar to the distance it took to get to the cabin of hell in the first place. Louis hasn't said a word during the ride, and I'm beginning to wonder if he would even notice if I tried to escape again. My attempts are getting repetitive, but it's what I need to do to prove to myself that whatever happens, at least I tried. I can't die without that assurance.
I stare at him through the rearview mirror, and he hasn't once looked up at me through it. It's almost as if he's afraid to. He knows I'm watching, yet he's too nervous to even meet my gaze? Not so threatening anymore, Louis. Who am I kidding, there's a big ball of nerves at the pit of my stomach, and it's growing bigger by each second I'm in his presence.
The sky is dim and foggy with the weather's snowy chill, but through it all I can still manage to find the crescent shape beginning to appear underneath it all. It's weird, but somehow I feel as if everytime I see the moon, I know that everything will be okay, because like any other normal person, they can see it too. I'm not in a different world. I'm not somewhere completely new to my eyes. And as long as I see that moon, I know that everything will be okay, no matter how much hurt and damage they'll do to me. That damn moon feels like a floating angel next to me, as if it's staying with me through it all.
The truck slows down, catching me off guard. My eyes snap out my window to find myself staring at what seems like a... mansion?
How far did we drive to end up in a place like this? I look at the clock, realizing it's only been a few. Four to be exact. I look up in the mirror again, and this time his eyes are staring at me. It startles me at first, considering how I didn't expect him to look in the four hours we've been driving. He looks away before opening his door and hopping out. He didn't even bother cutting the engine off, which only concerns me that he forgot or that we won't be here for long. No, that only confirms the fact that I'll be spending this night back down in that horrid and cold basement again. I'd rather die out here and spend another night down there, because for all I know, I'll just end up dead down there anyway.
He opens the door for me, exposing me to the cold air as it rushes in. We may have driven out four hours away, but it's still cold. Without saying anything, he grabs me roughly by the shoulder and forces me out. The second my bare feet hit the ground, which isn't covered in snow, thankfully, I get to take another long and hard look at the building in front of us. A giant mansion with no character. It looks like nobody lives here, but by the mass amount of luxurious cars parked on the driveway, that story blares a false claim.
Louis guides me towards the front door of the mansion, and the closer we get, the more nervous and confused I am. I don't know why I'm here, and I can't figure out who lives here. Is this his house? The ball of nerves feels like it's tightening into a million different twists that make me uncomfortable the closer we get. My breath catches in my throat quietly at the feeling of his hand giving my shoulder a squeeze, as if he himself is nervous for me. Is he trying to comfort me? No, he hates me. I'm his victim, and he's my kidnapper. He proved that the second he took me from the street I so badly regret walking on that night.
He stops us right in front of the door, and turns towards a buzzer. He presses down against the button on its left side and waits, before the sound of the door unlocking comes from the other side of it just as it opens to reveal a new face. Blue eyes, short brown hair, he's short in general.
Louis and the man greet each other with subtle nods, before the stranger's eyes begin to observe me slowly. Thankfully, Louis distracts him when his hand is stuck out with the keys to his truck dangling from it."The engine is still running, but she's low on gas."
The man's eyes tear away from mine and to Louis', taking in the information. "Enough to fill up somewhere?" he asks.
Louis nods, before getting one from the man in return. He takes the keys from Louis' hand and moves past us and towards the truck.
