"Anyone home?" I ask, walking into Avory and Brian's shared home.
It was quiet for another seconds before a screaming, gigly voice came from the other room. A smile creeps up on my cheeks as I walk into the living room.
Brian sat on the couch tipping his three year old girl upside down before bringing her up to kiss her cheek.
"How cute," I laugh, standing in the living room doorway.
"Hey Ally, are you ready?" He asks, standing from the couch, holding his girl in his strong arms.
"As ready as I'll ever be," I sigh, scanning his living room. "Where's Avory?"
"Babe!" He yells, looking up at the ceiling.
"Here," he smiles, holding her basketball shaped stomach and walking towards me.
Her frails arms wrap me in a hug and the small human kicks in her belly.
"Ha, he kicked," she smiles, grabbing my hand and placing it to her stomach.
"He?" I question, looking at Brian.
They both nod in unison, goofy grins spread across their proud parent faces.
"I'm glad I'm not married," I joke before the doorbell goes off.
"I'll get it," Jewl yells, squirming in her fathers arms.
"Go get em," Brian laughs, setting the little girl on her feet, stumbling once before running clumsily to the front door.
"Jewl!" Danni's voice chimes from the front door.
"Fairy God Mother!" She yells in response before they both enter the living room.
"Are we ready?" She asks, hoisting the baby higher up on her hip, causing the three year old princess to giggle.
"Yup," I weakly smile, heading towards the door again.
...
"That was sad," Brian admits as we drive out of the cemetery gates.
Every year the group of us always visit my mother and fathers grave. We owe it to them...I do anyway.
"How about dinner?" Avory asks, her fingers intertwining with Brian's.
"I agree," I laugh, trying to lighten the mood.
"Me twee," Jewl adds.
"Three," Brian correts.
"Thweed," she trys again.
"Close enough," Danni chuckles.
"Can we order in? I'm kinda tired," I ask, rubbing my eyes and leaning against the back car seat.
"Sure."
...
"That was amazing," I smile, pushing my plate away and holding my full stomach.
"I second that statement," Danni adds, copying my actions.
"Is she?"
"Ya, she's asleep," Avory smiles, brushing Jewl's hair from her face.
"I'll get her to bed," Brian smiles, standing and kissing my and Danni's foreheads.
"I love you guys," he smiles.
"Love you too Romeo," we both laugh.
He then kneels in front of Avory, pressing his lips close to her belly, whispering something before kissing the baby locked away for another few weeks.
"Love you," she hums after he pulls away from a kiss.
He whispers something in her ear before picking up the sleeping child, holding her close and disappearing from the room.
"I'm gonna get going too," Danni adds, standing and hugging her twin before turning and hugging me.
"Bye," Avory and I say in unison, waving as she leaves as well.
"Do you ever wonder how we got so lucky to have each other?" She asks, lovingly staring at her soon to be real human thingy in her tummy.
"I never couldn't hoped for anything better," I smile.
And I'm that moment, my live was perfect.
