His eyes go wide and his mouth drops wide open, emitting a gurgling sound. I yank my knife out and the hunter falls over. He lay sideways on the leafy ground, his arms twitching while his eyes roll back.

I'm breathing heavily, not wanting to believe what I just did. I'm in complete shock. I just killed a man. I took a life, a human's life. I've violated the Sixth Commandment, and probably cursed myself to a lifetime of sorrow.

I grab my hammer and knife, jumping up from the forest floor and then I just start running.

Running from what had just happened.

Running from the other three hunters that are chasing me.

But most of all, I'm running from myself.

As I zip past the trees, I quickly turn my head and notice that the hunters are falling behind. Figures. I'm younger, faster than they are. To make sure, I glance a second time over my shoulder.

Big mistake.

In fact, HUGE mistake.

I trip over a stray rock and then I find myself rolling down a hill. My head and body endure so much pain as I strike other rocks and tree roots. The hill finally ends, and then my left ankle starts to hurt.

Really bad.

Crap. I think my ankle is twisted.

As I barely manage to stand up, I observe my surroundings. I'm on what looks like a hiking trail, so I must be in a park or something. I look up to the sky, seeing the sun behind the clouds slowly dipping toward the horizon. It's going to get dark really soon, so I need to find some shelter. I put my right foot out, then I put my left foot out slowly. It hurts like absolute hell, so I have to walk with a limp. What the hell am I going to use to help my ankle?

As I limp down the trail, I come around the corner of a tiny outpost, then all I see is a pack of three walkers. I immediately turn around and hobble down another path, but then I can hear their growls while I'm retreating.

I can see the ending of the trail way up ahead, so I limp toward it with every last bit of energy just as I start to feel a little dizzy, most likely from all of the falling. The walkers are still right behind me, and they aren't giving up. I can smell them from behind me as they inch closer. As the trail ends, I slow down because I am so tired all of a sudden. I can't fight anymore.

I collapse onto a patch of grass near a street. Just as the three walkers are about to dig into my flesh, I hear three gunshots, and then they drop dead. When I'm about to fall unconscious, two dark figures come into my view.

Then I sink into darkness.
