Newt x Y/n, Part 1: The Glade

Chapter 4, The Bonfire (your POV)

More time had passed and it was time for the bonfire. You and Newt hung out with each other all day since you had arrived. You liked that you could spend so much time time him and hoped it would be like this all the time.

You met a boy, the youngest at age 12, his name was Chuck. He was the sweetest thing ever. You guys had grown so close already. A lot of the graders said that you 2 looked alike. Chuck also seemed familiar and you guys acted as brother and sister from the time you met each other.

You, Newt, and Chuck walked to the bonfire. The other gladers had already arrived.

"So how's your first day been so far y/n?" Chuck asked.

You replied, "It was actually kinda fun. I'm glad I got to meet so many people. I guess I had the thought that everyone would be kinda stuck-up and mean, but everyone is so sweet. I think I'll like it here a lot. Except for one thing. Gally, we are not on good terms. I wonder why he doesn't like me."

The rest of the walk was filled with laughter. You came to find that Newt had an amazing sense of humor. Chuck as well. You 3 went to sit down by a log.

Newt sparked a conversation.

"Y/n. About Gally, before I say anything I wanna apologize for the way he acted. Gally has changed a lot over the past 3 years. He used to be a really nice guy."

Chuck listened in and you replied,

"It's okay Newt. You shouldn't be apologizing for him. He needs to stop being an ass and take responsibility for his actions. If he wants to be that way, let him. I can be petty too."

Newt laughed and gave you a smile.

Newts POV

I laughed when y/n said that. She was funny and I loved how she was genuine. She was serious about being petty. I thought it was kinda cute how she defended herself. I knew we'd be great friends.

I wanted to introduce her to Minho. Minho was sarcastic and so was she, what a perfect friendship.

Your POV

I was kinda hungry. I wanted to look around for food.

"Guys, I'm hungry, what's there to eat?"

Chuck and newt giggled. I stood up, crossed my arms, and looked at them with my stern face.

"What's so funny?" I asked.

This made them laugh even harder. I raised my eyebrows. When they got a hold of themselves Newt said,

"You're absolutely adorable love. Come on let's go get something to eat."

He called me "love". I felt immediate butterflies and I could feel myself blushing. Chuck noticed it too and he nudged me and raised his brows up and down. I nudged him back and widened my eyes.

Chuck started to giggle at my face.

"What's so funny?" Newt asked as we walked.

"Nothing!" I yelled, "Chuck is just being Chuck."

Chuck regained his breath and said,

"Liar! I'm laughing because you called y/n "love" and she blushed and widened her eyes!" He said with a grin.

Newt looked at me and I couldn't look at him so I turned to Chuck and said,

"Did not!"

"Did to!" Chuck exclaimed.

I just rolled my eyes in a playful way, Chuck laughed again and Newt joined in. I smiled and enjoyed the company.
