Gathering all the needed ingredients, the group assigned roles to each other. "KYAAAA! I WANT TO MAKE THE OHAGI!" Mitsuri volunteered.
"I think Kanroji, Kochou, Obanai, Shinazugawa, and Tomioka should make the ohagi! Kyojuro, Tokito, Shinazugawa, and I will bake pizza!" Tengen decided, embracing them into a bear hug.
"Oh my, let's hope you don't burn my kitchen down~" Shinobu giggled.
"SET THE KITCHEN ABLAZE!" Kyojuro exclaimed.
"Let's not do that you flaming idiot—" Sanemi glared across to Kyojuro.
"WAIT! WHICH SHINAZUGAWA-SAN IS WHICH?" A confused Mitsuri looked side to side at the Shinazugawa brothers.
"Genya is obviously with me." Muichiro rolled his eyes.
"Yes! How flashy! The albino Shinazugawa is working with Tomioka!" Tengen squished Sanemi and Giyuu together. Giyuu's face lit up like fireworks, his breathing becoming uneasy and shaky. Sanemi noticed and tried to put some distance between them, not wanting Giyuu to feel uncomfortable. His mind immediately wandered back to when they kissed, resulting in Sanemi's face turning slightly red as well.
"Alright, the ingredients are gonna spoil! We should begin—" Shinobu started, though getting cut off by Kyojuro.
"WHAT IF WE MAKE IT A CONTEST? THE GROUP THAT MAKES THE TASTIEST FOOD WINS!" he suggested.
"Wow! Good idea, buddy Kyojuro! That is super flamboyant!" Tengen cackled, wrapping one arm around Kyojuro's shoulders.
"But we have an odd amount of people..." Giyuu muttered, attracting everyone's attention.
"KYAAA! YOU'RE RIGHT, TOMIOKA-SAN! OH NO... WHAT SHOULD WE DO?" Mitsuri jumped up.
"Don't worry, Mitsuri. Someone can be the judge." Obanai reassuringly smiled, holding Mitsuri's hand.
"I THINK IGURO SHOULD BE THE JUDGE! SINCE HE THOUGHT OF IT!" Kyojuro debated.
"I don't mind either way." Obanai shrugged.
"AWEEE! BUT I WANTED TO COOK WITH YOU..." Mitsuri pouted, clutching onto his arm.
"It'll be okay, Mitsuri dear." Obanai caressed her cheek.
"It's settled then! Our teams are even now! Please just hurry up and start.." Shinobu pleaded, hanging her head low.
As everyone separated into their teams, they all made sure to get everything needed. Mitsuri's team had the upperhand, as almost everybody was good at cooking. Sanemi could only make really tasty ohagi, but it worked out in his favour this time. "KYAAA! THIS IS SO EXCITING!" Mitsuri hopped up and down, nearly accidentally spilling rice everywhere.
"Kanroji-san, please calm down..." Giyuu hushed her, taking the glutinous rice out of her hands in case she made a mess.
"AH, SORRY TOMIOKA-SAN!" Mitsuri apologised. The team plugged the rice cooker in, pouring in both glutinous rice and normal rice. Sanemi wanted to use both variations, claiming that it would be softer and easier to chew. They added some water into the machine, starting the timer. Whilst the rice mixture was brewing, Shinobu got out some red bean paste, ground-black sesami seeds, and kinako (sweetened soybean flour).
On the other hand, Tengen's team was struggling. Kyojuro was attempting to bloom the yeast, but ended up smacking it on the ground. "Oh my goodness— Rengoku-san!" Genya called out, grabbing wet-wipes in the process. Muichiro had to take over for him, and actually did a decent job. He used just enough sugar, producing the perfect amount of co2.
When the rice cooker started beeping, signalling it was done, the group scooped it out. They plopped the rice on a chopping board and softly pounded it. Shinobu rolled it out before cutting the rice into four sections, splitting it evenly between the four members. "Here, Mitsuri-san! Shinazugawa-san, Tomioka-san!" she happily hummed. Giyuu nodded in appreciation and started to pound the rice gently. Sanemi admired him, watching the way his hair only half-dangled down his face. The hairpin Giyuu had on really complimented his eyes.
