Whilst arriving at the ice-skating rink, the car ride was silent. Apart from Sanemi's hopeless attempts at small talk, nobody said anything. Giyuu was already socially awkward as it was, and small talk didn't help at all.
When the men finally reached the rink, they skimmed over the rough draft. They made sure to double check the moves with each other. Sanemi quickly put his skates on, with Giyuu following his lead. "Alright you turd, try not to screw anything up and cut me, got it?" Sanemi jokingly remarked. He knew Giyuu was a great figure skater, and controlled his movements very well. They were elegant and smooth, not sharp or hurried. Giyuu couldn't understand his humour, and instead mistook it for Sanemi thinking he was a horrible skater.
"I'm not that bad...right?" Giyuu sadly mumbled under his breath.
"Huh? What was that?" Sanemi asked. Giyuu didn't respond, so he ignored it.
As the carefully stepped onto the ice, Giyuu started doing basic warm-up steps to make sure that he didn't hurt himself. "Shinazugawa-san, you should warm yourself up too." Giyuu reminded.
"Huh? Oh, yeah I know. I would never forget!" Sanemi boldly huffed. He, infact, did forget.
"Alright then, should we start with the first couple of moves? Let's do that and then after, we can turn the music on." Giyuu planned out. If Sanemi was honest, he was impressed by Giyuu's responsibility.
"Sure, dipshit. Let's go." Sanemi said, as he held his right hand out for Giyuu to grab. As their hands met the other's, they both felt something they never had before. A spark. Giyuu felt butterflies in his stomach bursting around, while Sanemi felt strange. 'What the hell is this feeling? Am I sick or something? Maybe I ate something bad.' Sanemi simply shrugged it off.
During the rehearsal, Sanemi couldn't help but have his mind wander around the place. Of course, figure skating took full concentration to do properly, but he couldn't help it. No matter what Sanemi tried, his train of thought wandered back to Giyuu. Ever since he was paired up with Giyuu, everything changed for him. Sanemi's mind was often foggy and full of Giyuu's face.
As Sanemi was twirling around with Giyuu, he noticed a small smile form on the other's face. It suited Giyuu quite a lot. Sanemi blushed at how pretty Giyuu was, and starting checking him out. 'In all honesty, Tomioka is really handsome... He has such amazing features, I wonder how he's still single. Wait, why am I wondering about that?! Oh my god, I'm going crazy, aren't I?! Or... wait. No, it can't be, right? I couldn't possibly like Tomioka! Oh my goodness.' It was at that exact time that Sanemi realised, he had the biggest crush on Giyuu. Whenever he was around him, Sanemi would feel a warm feeling envelop and hug him. It was a nice sensation, one Sanemi hadn't felt in many years, though he had trouble admitting it.
'What is wrong with me?! Don't I hate him? Yes, I hate him! But then again, I don't... What am I saying?!' Sanemi was practically experiencing a war with his feelings. His whole mind was a mess! He didn't want to believe it, but he had really fallen for Giyuu in the past day they had spent together. 'It's only been one day that I've actually bonded with him, why am I so attached?! Maybe I'm the lunatic.' He never expected to fall in love again after Kanae rejected him, much less with Giyuu Tomioka. It was the one person he swore to never interact with. Yet, here we are.
Suddenly, a silky smooth voice pulled him back into reality.
"Shinazugawa-san? Are you okay? You seem out of it. Maybe you do need to rest, your face is getting red like it was yesterday." Giyuu worrily asked. "We can do this later, your health matters most."
Sanemi immediately felt his face heating up again. As an attempt to cover it up, he fake coughed. "Y-yeah. Maybe it is better if we do this another time. I'm not feeling the best..." Sanemi fibbed. It was the only way for him to calm himself down. He needed some time to gather his thoughts. Giyuu nodded and held Sanemi's hand, leading him to the edge of the rink. "Woah woah- why are you grabbing onto my hand?!" Sanemi exclaimed in shock. This was not helping him or his feelings at all.
"Oh, sorry, Shinazugawa-san! I just wanted to make sure that you didn't accidentally fall or anything, since you're not feeling so well! Giyuu explained. 'He's actually kinda sweet... Maybe I did misunderstand him.' Sanemi contemplated.
"Tsk, I guess it's okay." Sanemi sarcastically rolled his eyes, gripping Giyuu's hand tighter. His excuse for it was 'I felt a bit dizzy'.
Carefully skittering off the rink, Sanemi and Giyuu had the misfortune of bumping into everyone apart from Gyomei and Ubuyashiki, the calm people in their skating class. "KYAAA! IS THAT TOMIOKA-SAN AND SHINAZUGAWA-SAN HOLDING HANDS? HOW CUTE!" Mitsuri squealed as soon as she saw them. Hearing that, the two men swiftly untangled their fingers. Sanemi obviously missed the feeling, but there was no way he would request to hold someone's hand.
"I KNEW YOU WERE GAY, NEMI!" Genya, Sanemi's younger brother, accused.
"I'M NOT GAY, YOU'RE GAY! YOU'RE THE BIGGEST MUICHIRO SIMP EVER!" Sanemi loudly shouted. It was very obvious that the two people were brothers. Both sharing the same loud and aggressive attitude.
"I guess the Shinazugawas have a type. Quiet dudes." Muichiro said.
"I'm disappointed in you, Sanemi." Obanai hissed in disgust. "You could've chosen anyone but emo boy. Really?"
"AS MY CLOSEST FRIEND, I WOULD EXPECT YOU TO ATLEAST TAKE MY SIDE!" Sanemi frustratedly told Obanai. He only earned a sneer in response.
"WELL WELL, FELLOW CHILDREN! IT SEEMS THAT SHINAZUGAWA HAS FINALLY COME TO TERMS WITH HIS FEELINGS!" Kyojuro boomed, his voice deafeningly loud. It could probably shatter glass.
"Please stop, everyone. Shinazugawa-san was feeling unwell, so I was assisting him with safely getting off the ice." Giyuu explained, tired of their childishness.
"THAT'S NOT VERY FLASHY OF YOU, TOMIOKA!" Tengen cackled.
"Oh my~ this is why you have no friends, Tomioka-san!" Shinobu sinisterly mocked him.
"Kocho, please stop. I do have friends." Giyuu sighed. He was sick of Shinobu's rude comments.
"Oh? Like who?"
"Me. Like me. I'm... Tomioka's friend. Now shut up, dwarf girl. You look like one of Santa's elves." Sanemi snapped back, annoyed. Everyone (including Giyuu) looked surprised, and went silent.
"My my~ looks like Shinazugawa-san here does have a thing for Tomioka-san! Don't worry, we won't tell too many people!" Shinobu devilishly grinned. 'Motherfucker...' Sanemi cursed.
After what seemed like an eternity of Sanemi and Giyuu having to sit through their friends shipping them together, Giyuu finally managed to drag Sanemi out of the crowd. He looked like he wanted to say something, but was unsure of it. "You look half constipated and half confused, what's the matter?" Sanemi questioned. He was still put off by what had happened earlier.
"Sorry, Shinazugawa-san." Giyuu apologised.
"For what?" Sanemi genuinely laughed. He didn't know why Giyuu was saying sorry. It should be those bastards inside of the skating rink.
"For getting us into this.." Giyuu frowned. He felt really bad.
"Tch, don't worry about it. This could happen to anyone... I guess. Even if you are a dumbass." Sanemi said in an attempt to cheer Giyuu up. Even if Sanemi wasn't the best at being nice, he was making an effort. Giyuu obviously noticed the change in his attitude, and let out a content hum.
"Thanks, Shinazugawa-san. That means a lo-"
"Call me Sanemi. You can... call me Sanemi." he interrupted. Both men were surprised at Sanemi's words. He acted on impulse, not actually thinking before he said what he did.
"Huh?! R-really?!" Giyuu happily exclaimed.
"Duh. After all, we are friends, right? Well, don't get it wrong or anything! We aren't close, and I don't even like you all that lot..." Sanemi grinned. Giyuu beamed a wide smile, the widest Sanemi had ever seen Giyuu manage. It made him feel special, in a way.
"Thank you so much, Shina- uh, Sanemi-san! Thanks for being my friend... I really appreciate it." Giyuu thanked Sanemi from the bottom of his heart. "You can call me Giyuu, please do."
"Alright, Giyuu. I'll drop you off at your house, we can meet up another day when the rest of our class aren't at the rink." Sanemi lightheartedly joked. Giyuu faintly smiled once again, and nodded joyfully.
"I'll see you soon then, Sanemi-san."
"See ya, Giyuu."
