(Reminder: Kayla/Katune are the same person. Just different aspects.) (Also this is the last chapter. I had it partially written and just added it.)
Kayla waited patiently for the other three to wake up. She was sitting on the patio, watching the rain hit the pool. The Deity hadn't been able to fall back asleep after waking at 3 am from a strange dream.
Her senses were open wide, taking in the peace of the private island. She could feel her lovers sleeping peacefully in their bed and the little animals roaming around. The deity stood, undressing completely and made her way to the ocean. She dove into the water and swam down, down far enough that it would be dark to a normal human. To her it was just slightly dim.
It didn't take long for Poseidon to join her, his eyes roaming her body appreciatively until her knife made an appearance. She pointed it towards his groin threateningly with a fierce look on her face. He averted his eyes and looked at her face. "What brings you here?" He spoke in Ancient Greek.
"My lovers wanted to come to Tony's private Island. I couldn't say no." Her eyes looked at him as she sighed, bubbles leaving her mouth.
"You don't like coming so close to the homeland though. You haven't been here in centuries." Poseidon pointed out and got a fish to the face for it. "Hey!"
"Behave. I'm not above hitting you with it again." She laughed, setting the fish free. It was nice to see another deity sometimes, one who had lived for millennia like she had. She adored her lovers but they were just so young.
"How are your three doing?" Poseidon's smile faded. He still couldn't believe that Zeus hadn't stopped her from doing it.
"They're doing well. They're sleeping right now." Kayla shrugged and sighed. "Sometimes I wonder if I did the right thing but then I remembered what was happening before I interfered."
"It's always hard to know." Poseidon agreed as he looked at her. "But if it feels right to you..."
"They make me happier than I have been in years. I don't know what I would do without them." The deity's hair was floating in a halo around her head. "Probably be lonely still."
"You could have found a husband or wife among the Olympians instead of hiding yourself away." Poseidon reminded her. "You chose to stay away."
"I had my reasons." Her voice sharpened and she narrowed her eyes. She had had her reasons for avoiding them.
"Exactly. Even now you won't explain." Poseidon's annoyance made the current pick up. "Why won't you explain?"
"Because I don't have to. I didn't want to be involved with the squabbles you lot have. All the fighting and discord hurts me inside. It makes my head feel like it will explode." Katune scowled and her eyes glowed with her power.
"It's the way things have always been." Poseidon backed up. She could make things uncomfortable for him. "You know that."
"I do know that. That doesn't mean I have to involve myself with it." Katune looked at Poseidon. Her annoyance was clear on her face. "I chose to stay away to save myself a headache."
"You are strange... You always have been." Poseidon grumbled, staring at her. He never had understood women. They were all complicated.
"Yes but I am happy now. I have them and I don't need to wander as much." Kayla watched the fish swimming by, her eyes holding a distance in them. "Things are better now. I love them. I have a home with them."
"If you say so. Just know you will always have your place in Olympus if you choose." Poseidon knew the conversation was coming to an end. He watched her nod, the goddess swimming back to the surface far above after.

(Back to the future with the baby)"And we get to keep him forever." Kayla kissed the baby's head, relief clear in her eyes. It had taken some fancy legal work but the baby was officially theirs. She gently bounced the now ten month old baby. It had been a long five months but things were cleared up.
"Calix, do you hear that? You're ours forever." Steve smiled, seeing the baby smile. The blond adored the baby as much as Kayla did. Bucky and Tony had taken longer to warm up to the infant but had become just as fond of him as the other two.
"Dada." Calix nodded, beaming at Steve. He was cuddled into Kayla, clinging to her tightly. Calix enjoyed being held but he also liked to explore their home. The baby's eyes had turned a shade of green grey that was identical to Kayla's. It was the baby's innate magic influencing his appearance.
"That's right, little man." Bucky had come in from outside, wiping his hands clean with a wipe. He ruffled the baby's blond hair, grinning as it flickered to match the same shade as his. "You're ours and no one will ever take you from us."
"Are we being emotional? Because emotions give me hives." Tony snorted, looking relaxed as he came in from the garage. He had just come from New York after a business meeting that he had had to attend. He was happy to be the long distance Head of R&D at Stark Industries. He rarely had to go to New York unless it was absolutely necessary. He flashed a smile at his family, seeing the way they automatically made room for him in their little love huddle. He joined them, greeting the three adults with loving kisses and then a gentle kiss to their son's head.
"Darn. I guess you don't get your welcome home gift." Kayla laughed, winking at Tony. They would all enjoy welcoming the genius home once Calix was asleep. The baby slept very well and they had plenty of time. "I'm so very happy with all of you. I hope you know how much I love you and appreciate you."
"We love and appreciate you too, Doll. You did so much for us that we want to make sure that you're happy forever." Bucky smiled at Kayla, kissing her temple. It was true after all. They all loved and appreciated each other every day.
"Couldn't have said it better." Steve agreed, his eyes bright with happiness. He was more than grateful every day that he was given this second chance at life. He was interrupted from saying anything else by Calix grabbing at his face. It was the baby's usual way of saying he wanted Steve. "C'mere, Calix." He took the baby into his arms.
"I think someone wanted to nap." Kayla laughed softly, watching the way Calix immediately closed his eyes. Her body was pressed against Tony's, just happy to have him home again. The house had felt emptier without him there. She loved the way Calix had fit just right into their family, the way they had all gotten attached and how it was the sign of their new chapter about to begin. She didn't know what life would bring but she knew they would handle it by each other's sides.
