"Felix, sweetie? Are you asleep?" His mother asks, but Felix doesn't answer. The room is deathly silent. "Oh, im sorry but he seems to be sleeping already, perhaps we can try again tomorrow?" Amelie says to someone outside of the door. He waits till the sound of footsteps leaves, then he speaks.
"Anyways, before we end this.. meeting? I need a way of contacting you." He grabs two flip phones from her drawer and hands one to ladybug. "The only people who know about this are me and you, and no one else, the only number is mine. Good night ladybug." He says opening the window again for her, somehow keeping his elegant composure even when saying this. She steps out without saying goodbye.

Footsteps are heard on the top of Paris' rooftops that night, her breath heavy from running. She sits on the edge of a bakery, her legs hanging off. Then she hears someone behind her, and she immediately gets into a fighting stance, but to her surprise it's just chat noir. "just" chat noir. The same chat noir who left months ago and never came back, but now he is standing in front of her.
"Chat..?" Her former stony stare is shed, and what now lies in it's place is a tearful smile. "Cat! Where were you these past weeks?- I- You just left me and never came back, I thought you quit?" She envelopes him in a hug, and he melts. This was the very first time she had ever done anything like this. He had always been the one to kiss her hand, or give her a rose. And she had always rejected him, telling him to stop joking around.
" I've missed you too, ladybug, I've missed you too. Forgive me for leaving suddenly." He takes a step back, away from her.
They sit down next to each other, the smell of croissants filling the air around them. And the warmth of that bakery filling her. Its peculiar really, they hadn't talked in months and yet they sat in each other's presence so comfortably. They didn't act like nothing had happened, rather they acted as if something did happen. to make them closer. To make them, them. Chat Noir: full of this warmth, this glow so bright that you could see it. And ladybug: the one who watches him glow, from afar and smiles to herself thinking about him.
They were the two protecters of paris, the two people against the world. The unbreakable duo.
She hears the door to the rooftop open and close.
"Ladybug.. this may be the last time I get to speak to you. I'm so sorry. I'm.. going to renounce Plagg."
oh... The one protector or paris, one person against the world.. no longer a duo. Ladybug feels her mind go blank. She loses control of herself for a second. Her grip on the buildings edge loosens, as does her grip on reality.
There is a long silence, that somehow went on for too long and yet was too short. "...What?" She says, now trying to face him. But she can't find him anywhere, his familiar figure and comforting smile. She didn't notice it before, but he had moved from his position of sitting next to her to hiding behind the rooftop door.
"NO. CHAT NOIR, NO. NO-" She runs to the door, but it's locked. She hears sniffing from the inside, then she hears the scraping of a metal ring against the concrete floor, and sees it lay before her feet. She slams herself agsint the door, set on opening it no matter what.
"Ladybug, I wish that you would find the comfort you need in something else, that you will find your happiness soon. My only regret will be not being here to witness you find it. I'm the years that we have been partners... I want you to know that I love you. Platonically or romantically I haven't sorted that out yet, but what I do know is that I love you. Thank you, and Goodbye." He says his last words to her, his accent that was once so familiar now sounds like a distant memory.
"NO CHAT NOIR, THERE HAS TO BE ANOTHER WAY, WE CAN FIGURE THIS OUT OPEN THE DOOR!" She slams herself against it again and again until it opens but no one is there. Only a rose and a ring, only his scent but not him.
She runs down the staircase hoping to catch him before he could leave. She knew him so why was is that she was at the end of the stairs. At the very bottom, but still couldn't find him. She couldn't see him anywhere, she couldn't feel him anywhere. The person that shined the brightest no longer had his glow, no longer had this sun above him guiding her to find him anywhere.
Was this truly goodbye?
