𝒏𝒆𝒕𝒆𝒚𝒂𝒎 𝒑𝒐𝒗

I woke up to tuk poking my side "nete, nete, netey, netey, teyam, teyam, neteyam, neteyam" she kept repeating my name in all the ways she could as I groaned.

"Yes tuk? " I mumbled still half asleep as she began talking, to be honest, everything she said went into one ear and straight out the other as I started falling back asleep.

Next thing I know I hear kiri speak "is that xaloria? " as soon as I heard her name my ears perked up and I sat up looking around. "Told you it would work" she laughed at my state as I rolled my eyes at her realizing she was lying about xaloria.

I stood up from my hammock and walked outside of my mauri dangling my feet off the net into the water, slowly drifting off back into sleep still sitting up. As I was I heard someone giggle behind me.

"Someone tired? " my eyes shot open as I turned around immediately knowing who it was just by the voice. Xaloria, she was crouched down behind me holding a small basket as she smiled and waved at me.

"Good morning to you too" I chuckled looking down at her basket tilting my head. "What for? " I pointed as she began.

"I like to look for shells along the shore and in the water in the morning, its very calming. " she paused before speaking again "wanna join? "

my ears perked up again as she giggled noticing. I played it off cool as is nodded at her "I'd love to" of course you'd love to you're literally head over heels for her.

She stood up and held her hand out to me as I grabbed it and we began walking to the beach. I watched as she looked intently at the sand making sure she didn't miss any shells.

I looked with her and anytime I found one she would come to me to check it out.

"Ria look I found one" she walked up to me and took it out of my hand. She looked at it and shook her head.

"This one is broken try looking for ones in it's whole piece " I furrowed my eyebrows at her and she chuckled me. She brought her hand up to my cheek and gave me a quick kiss "I still think its nice, Ill keep this one for you" she turned back around and looked for more.

After an hour of me helping ria look for shells the horn was blown. "Whats going on? " I turned to look at her seeing she was as confused as I was.

"Come" she grabbed my hand and we walked into the direction of the crowd seeing a metkayina family. There were an older couple which must've been the parents and a boy around the same age as me.

"Welcome back nolam" tonowari shook the man's hand as the boys gaze went to ria. Next thing I know he's walking over to her, big smiles.

"Lori ! Its been so long! " she looked at him confused. "You don't remember me? Its me zidrani! " I looked over at ria confused as her eyes widened.

"Drani?! " he smiled and nodded his head "I can't believe you're back you've changed so much! " I stared at them as he brought her into a hug that lasted a bit longer than I'd like. I rolled my eyes and rested my hand on rias lower back "I should go my mother must've finished breakfast" I whispered into her ear as she turned to me and smiled while nodding.

I walked back to my mauri slightly annoyed, who is this 'drani' guy and why is he so buddy buddy with my ria.

When I walked into my mauri lo'ak furrowed his eyebrows at me "you got a stick up your ass or something why do you look so mad? "

"Lo'ak language! " my mother glared at him as I did so too

"Nothing I'm fine" I rolled my eyes at him as he put his hands up as if he was surrendering. I sat next to my mom grabbing some of the fruit she had cut up and placed in a bowl still thinking of ria when my mom snapped me out of my thoughts.

"Nete are you alright? " she rubbed my back and gave me a concerned look.

"Yeah mom I'm fine" I lied

"Okay if anything is bothering you please tell me" it was clear she knew I was lying but she still let it go.

I walked out of my mauri to see ria, aonung, lo'ak, kiri, rotxo and zidrani sitting and talking. I walked towards them and sat in between ria and aounug

"There you are I was starting to think you died" ria looked at me and smiled, I smiled at her when zidrani interrupted us.

"I didn't catch your name" I glared at him

"Neteyam"

He pursed his lips and nodded, I directed my attention back to ria as she leaned her head against my shoulder. When zidrani spoke up again making my groan in annoyance. "So are you guys dating? " We both shook our head and I caught his slight grin, who does he think he is?

"Oh okay" he responded and nodded his head.
