Two

𝐭𝐰𝐨 𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐤𝐬 𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 .. we finally have everything put away and have furniture. it's nice not having to live out of boxes anymore and everything having it's perfect place.

it's the evening and my parents are prepping food for the dinner they planned with all the neighbors on our street.

i was in my room getting ready so i can make a good first impression with everybody, because first impressions are very important on how you view the person.

while brushing my hair, i hear more voices downstairs than usual meaning people are probably already showing up.. next thing i know i'm being called downstairs to greet them.

"Nova! come downstairs honey"

i do a last minute touch up then get up and go downstairs, there's a lot of people here so subconsciously i head to an area in my house where there's no one, which just so happened to be the couch.

i turn on the tv putting it to a lower volume, watching whatever is on while i wait for the food to be done.

"hey girly, your mom wants you to come to the table" someone tells me.

i look up confused before seeing it's Britani and smile, standing up to exchange a hug "hey- oh"

while hugging her, behind her i see a tall guy.

"oh shit- Nova this is my not so little, little brother" she laughs as it seemed to slip her mind that he was behind her.

"hi i'm Nova nice to meet you" i smile.

"you too, i'm Berlin" he smiles back as we shake hands.

"you guys are the same age so do as you will with that information, meanwhile I'll be at the table" she chuckles before walking off.

we both laugh and head to the table, sitting beside each other instead of where we're supposed to sit.

my mother gives me a look due to my seating choice since i was meant to sit beside her until she realizes he wasn't in the right spot either so she kind of relaxed a bit.

"that look you just got from her was crazyy" he laughs.

"yeah, i think she takes first impressions way more seriously than i do" i laugh as well.

"i mean, ain't nothing wrong with that. i do too" he shrugs.

we make our plates and have small talk here and there about where i moved from and what school i plan on going to.

"are you from here?" i look at him after taking a bite of food.

he nods "born and raised"

Berlin and i exchanged numbers before he went back home, my mother and i were cleaning up the table.

"i think that dinner went very successful" she smiles, washing dishes.

i nod "it went better than i thought it would've"

"who was he? did you make a new friend?"

"his name is Berlin and i think we're friends" i laugh. "i mean we exchanged numbers so hopefully that meant we are" i add.

"yay! Ryder met a few kids his age as well so i'm proud of you guys for actually talking to people" she laughs.

we wash everything and put it all away before parting ways and getting ready for bed.
