seventeen

𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝟓𝐭𝐡.. ain't it crazy that every year you become one year older? i can't believe i'm finally 18 years old.. it's very surreal. little me would be freaking out right now.

"happy birthday!" Ryder shouts as he tackles me down to the floor.

i wheeze "thank you"

"oh Ryder- she just turned 18, i don't need her to break a bone as well" my mom shakes her head laughing as we get off the ground.

"what's your plans for today honey?" she asks.

"absolutely nothing" i laugh.

"okay well what do you want to do?"

"i'd be down to do anything honestly" i shrug.

i wasn't really planning on doing anything today, of course i was excited about turning 18 but also it's just an ordinary day.

"knock knock where's the birthday girl?" a woman's voice says as the front door opens.

it was Britani, oh how i missed her.

i run and hug her "i missed you so much"

she hugs back and we sway a bit "i've missed you too, i brought you a gift"

"that's so sweet, you didn't have to get me anything" i pull away from the hug and smile at her.

"i know i didn't have to but i wanted to" she smiles back.

she hands me the gift and i open it, it was a combination of things. some vinyls, some makeup, and some other things that i've mentioned i wanted a while back.

"thank you so much! i can't believe you remembered me wanting these" i hug her again.

"i have a decent memory" she laughs.

"that was so nice of you Britani, it's nice to see you again honey" my mom exchanges a hug with her.

"it's good to be back, i've been meaning to come visit but it's so busy at work nowadays" Britani explains.

"we understand, you don't have to explain" my mom smiles.

"is your brother coming over? i got this new video game and i want to play it with him" Ryder asks.

"yeah he should be over here at some point" Britani laughs.

"speaking of Berlin-" she says as he walks in.

"y'all talking about me?" Berlin jokes as he hugs me.

"Ryder wanted to play his new game with you" i say hugging back.

"i'm down" Berlin smiles at him.

"hell yeah!" Ryder says clearly very happy.

we all laugh "happy birthday"

"thank you" i smile at him.

it was later in the day and i had went to the mall with some friends from school. it was nice being out the house but i'm such a homebody at heart, i'm glad to be back at my house.

when i came back home my mom, brother, and Berlin's family put together a small party with the neighborhood and our friends. it was so nice of them to do, plus i love surprises so this was amazing.

everyone was separated throughout the house. some were in the pool, some were in the kitchen, some in the living room.

Berlin, Joe, and some of their friends were in the backyard. my friend Dontai just arrived and i was so excited for him and Berlin to meet because i feel like they'd be great friends.
