𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐬𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝, 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐲𝐨𝐫𝐤.. being back in this environment was nice, i've missed it so much. we've been here for a couple days already and tomorrow is Christmas!
"oh darling, i feel like you've gotten so grown over the summer" my grandma smiles at me.
i laugh "thank you? i think"
"you're very welcome"
"you look just as beautiful too" i smile at her.
"oh you always know the right things to say to me" she hugs me tightly.
i hug back.
"i'm sorry what happened with your father, i'm not sure why he's being like that towards you" she shakes her head.
i just laugh it off "it's okay, i mean i have no control over it really so why stress"
"you're such a strong young woman, i love you so much" she kisses my head.
my grandma and i have always been super close, when i was little she would be the one to get me out of the house and take me shopping and spend the most time with me and Ryder while my parents worked.
i'm forever grateful for her, she's taught me so much and her powerful words are the reason i am who i am today.
"is that Nova i hear?" someone says walking in.
it was my Aunt Tiffany and my cousins.
"honey if i didn't know your voice than i would've never known it was you" she hugs me.
i laugh "i've missed you Tiffy"
"i've missed YOU more than ever" she smiles big.
"oh my goodness you're so tall now" i look at my little cousin.
she laughs "thank you i've been eating my vegetables"
i exchange hugs with everybody which made my arms hurt low-key, i have a lot of family members..
after a while, everyone was in different parts of the house. my cousins and i were in the guest bedroom catching up.
we talked about our love life, school, how growing up is scary and just those deep conversations you wanna talk about but never do.
"you guys down for karaoke?" Tiffany asks, walking in with a smile.
"always" i laugh.
we all get up and go to the living room, everyone gets a turn to do a song and it's honestly just so funny.
