Warning- Cursing
FLASHBACK: 6 YEARS AGO
3RD PERSON POV
CASA GONZALEZ
Eva laid in her bed alongside Maria, Patricia, and Lena. She had used countless tissues to blow her nose, and there were heaps of them used on the floor.
Patricia rubbed Eva's back in a circular motion. "It'll be okay, sis. I promise."
"Yeah. He's a douchebag anyway. Forget him." Maria said, stroking her thick curls.
*KNOCK* *KNOCK* *KNOCK*
Eva's mother, Xiomara, entered the room with a bowl of ice cream. "Diego's here."
Diego stepped into the room. Eva didn't make a motion to face him. She simply remained coiled up in a ball.
"Um.. giving you a heads up that Martín is about to leave. It's dumb of him to say this, but he hopes to see you before going."
"He can't be serious!" Lena yelled.
"Tell that jerk to go kiss a jackass!" Maria waved her hand in disapproval.
"Goodbye."
The women stopped, hearing Eva talk for the first time in half an hour.
"Tell him goodbye." She spoke louder, fiddling with the ring on her finger.
FLASHBACK OVER
3RD PERSON POV
Diego witnessed his friend and older brother staring at one another for a mere fifteen seconds, which seemed like an eternity to them.
What Eva would do now was beyond his imagination.
Hurl objects at him, or even send him flying so far into the sky that he might reach the sun. There was currently no way to forecast how this exact moment would play out.
EVANGELINA'S POV
"Martín." I broke the silence between us.
Dropping the fruit bag he was holding, Martín extended his arms and gave me a hug like we were best friends. Much to my own surprise, I reciprocated it.
"Roundabout, it's been a while."
The nickname made me cringe, remembering the reason why he called me that.
The reason why Diego thought I wouldn't be able to handle seeing his brother again.
Normally, when he called me that, I'd tell him not to or give him a playful punch to the chest. Not that that ever stopped him.
"Y-Yeah, it has."
"Look at you. Your hair grew longer." His hand softly touched my hair.
"And you cut yours." My hand touched his now shaved low cut brunette colored hair.
We both chuckled in an awkward manner, then hastily distanced ourselves from one another.
"Won't it be awkward for you?"
"Enough time has passed. There is no more tension."
No more tension. Those were my exact words. However, it seemed that what was said at the time and what was meant held completely different meanings.
Luckily for me, Diego's parents entered.
"Evangelina, darling, how are you?" Their mom's face beamed with happiness. "Hello, I've been good." We greeted each other in cheek kisses.
