3RD POV
The backyard was filled with laughter and joyful chatter as children ran around, playing games. Camilo, the birthday boy, was surrounded by friends and family. Bruno and Evangelina found themselves standing near each other, stealing glances amidst the celebration.
Evangelina poured herself a cup of fruit punch. "It's hard to believe how quickly Camilo has grown, isn't it?"
"Yes, time flies." Bruno replied in a soft tone.
"I've always had a soft spot for Camilo. He brings so much joy to our lives."
He smirked. "So, he's your favorite."
"Yes-I mean no! Dangit Bruno! You know I don't like having favorites." she playfully smacked his arm, making him chuckle.
"I'm not ashamed to admit that I do."
A gasp escaped Eva's lips. "You can't have favorites."
"Says who?"
"That's so mean. Who is it?"
"It's best for Dolores not to hear."
Bruno looked at Camilo. "Camilo kinda reminds me of my younger self."
"Really?"
Bruno's hand fiddled with one of the empty cups on the table. "Those carefree days are something I genuinely miss. His mischievousness knows no bounds. The only difference is that he will have a greater chance of finding love than I ever will."
"I'm as charming as a brick wall."
Eva turned her gaze at Bruno. "That's not true. If you can find just one female in this whole town who will adore you, spend time with you, and inspire you to be a better person, then I have no doubt that your real special someone is out there, waiting for you."
He leaned closer in Eva's ear. "Just full of positivity, aren't you?"
She chuckled. "Someone's gotta put some in you."
Their eyes meet, the world around them fading into the background. A spark of recognition passes between them as their hearts beat in sync.
They parted ways, their secret tension lingering in the air.
As Evangelina explored, she spotted her friends, Maria and Diego, in a secluded corner, engaged in a passionate kiss.
She watched them for a moment, a mix of surprise and understanding on her face.
BUT!
She approached them, interrupting their moment. A purposeful cough released from her throat. "Well this is an interesting twist ain't it?"
Maria and Diego quickly separated, slightly embarrassed.
"Lina! It-It's not what it looks like." Mari stammered, trying to rub the lipstick marks off Diego, however she was only making it worse by smearing them.
Eva raised an eyebrow, clearly not buying it. "Really? Because it looks pretty straightforward to me."
"We didn't mean to get carried away. It just happened."
Eva crossed her arms, but not in a disapproving manner. "That's not why I'm a bit bothered." She motioned a finger between Maria and Diego. "I have no problem with this, but look where you are."
"Sorry, we'll keep it together." Diego rubbed his neck.
"How is... he?" Maria asked.
"Better." Evangelina's tone switched to a teasing one. "Now, let's focus on Camilo's special day. We can save the romantic moments for later."
