3RD POV
THE NEXT DAY
Bruno approached Alma with determination on his face.
"Mamá," Alma looked at Bruno. "I want to plan a dinner with the Gonzalezes. Tonight."
"Any special reason?"
"It's a surprise."
CASA GONZALEZ
"Mamá, Pa. The madrigals have invited us to a dinner."
"Really? What's the occasion?" Xiomara wondered.
"No clue." Eva shrugged.
"Oh wait Eva. Julio told us what happened yesterday. How are you feeling now?" Rafael checked her forehead.
"Much better thanks to Julieta. Don't worry."
She partially lied.
LATER
A gorgeously designed dining room exuded the coziness of a family get-together. The Madrigal and Gonzalez families sat around a long table, enjoying dinner together.
A joke told by Camilo made Eva giggle. Bruno's attention was drawn to her laughter. They exchanged intense looks.
Eva did not look away as she nibbled a green grape from the table. The same was done by Bruno with a purple grape.
Xiomara, seated beside her husband, turned to Alma with a curious smile. "So, Alma, what's the special occasion for this dinner?"
Alma, taking a sip of her wine, returned the smile with a hint of curiosity. "I was actually wondering the same thing. Bruno here was the one who organized this whole affair."
Bruno, sitting next to his mother, shifted uncomfortably in his seat. "Excuse me, I need to use the bathroom," he announced, rising from his chair.
Eva, who had been quietly listening, also stood up. "I just remembered I left something in my room," she said quickly, following Bruno out of the dining room.
The two slipped into the hallway, their footsteps echoing softly against the tiled floor. Eva looked at Bruno with nervousness. Bruno reached into his pocket and pulled out a beautiful green engagement ring.
"Put it on," he said, his voice a bit shaky.
With the ring securely on her finger, they returned to the dining room, where the chatter had resumed. Bruno nervously cleared his throat, looking at Eva before announcing. "We are engaged!"
The room went silent as everyone's gaze shifted to them. Eva held up her hand slightly trembling as she revealed the engagement ring on her finger.
Realization dawning on them, applause and cheers erupted in the room, hurting poor Dolores' ears. A rainbow had sprouted from Pepa's head.
