Lewis is cracking up on the tiled floor, and his laughing makes me want to laugh too.

Then, we hear the front door open. We hear the clickety-clackety heels of Mother. The unpleasant sound of her voice floats up to the bathroom. "BRATS, GET DOWN HERE AND SEE YOUR LOVING, BEAUTIFUL MOTHER!"

I groan. I look at Lewis, who is grimacing. Sometimes, I wonder what it's like to have a normal mother. I mean, Ruby is great. Ruby has been taking care of all three of us ever since I can remember.

Lewis speaks. "Have you ever wondered what it would be like if we had a normal mom, like the ones in the stories? Whatever. Let's get out of here Sam, before the witch tries to boil us in her cauldron." I smile sadly at him, walk away towards my room, and close the door.
