It was a tough race, everyone on my team was more sweaty and out of breath than any of us had ever been, shortly after we were done celebrating our win the adrenaline wore off and it felt like my legs were about to collapse when the unthinkable happened! In all the excitement no one noticed the giant shadow moving across the track field until the lasers were shot and the sound of the stands exploding caught our attention. Panicked screams filled the crowd! I have a habit of saying whatever I'm thinking, and at that moment only one thought came to mind, run! I tried my best not to panic as my x-ray vision searched for a way out, the attackers ship had landed in front of the exit and had cannons aimed at every spot where the gate could possibly be climbed! I tried to think of a plan, even if I found a place to hide, directing people there would have alerted the attackers where it is but if I tried to fight I'd have died in one minute at the most and if I tried running they'd shoot me! Once I realized this I thought it was over, but then it hit me, I knew what must be done.

"If we die then we die fighting!" It started with one, then four, and in a matter of seconds the whole field was filled with laser blasts, force fields, phasing, a giant, and abilities you could never imagine. "This is why we have powers!" But once the chaos started to die down to the point where you could understand what was happening, I knew that this would all be in vain, the attackers lit a charge and in 15 seconds, anyone within two miles of here was going to die! Even knowing this, I refused to stop fighting, the only survivors of the blast would be the aliens so I was going to punch on so the deaths of all these people will have meant something! The next five seconds were a blur but somehow I found myself right next to the charge and knew what I had to do. I had to act fast because in eight seconds it would explode. I activated my x-ray vision then sweared when I realized it was made of Osmium, one of the only things my vision can't penetrate! Six seconds, I tried as hard as I could but my powers just couldn't let me see the core, five seconds, I wasn't going to give up, at that point I was willing to just dismantle it randomly when the adrenaline kicked back in and what's called an "Evans Boost" occurred where someones powers limits stop mattering, it wasn't very clear, but I could see silhouettes of the machines parts. Four seconds, I found the weakest point and with all my strength I pulled out a piece of the shell and quickly disconnected everything attached to the core. Two, one... I had done it, so many lives saved, but it wasn't over just yet, there were still 25 aliens blasting in the direction of anything that moves and the seven of which that didn't have lasers were brutally slaughtering whoever they got their hands on. I was about to get up and keep helping but my eyes were so strained I couldn't open them! All I remember after that was hearing more ships arrive and terrified screams of the attackers, then a sudden pain in the back of my head. I thought I was dead, I saw the gates of he–

I woke up in a hospital bed, my eyes covered by a bandage, still not sure why, I already couldn't open them. I heard footsteps, and several voices. Someone came in and said I was out for 21 hours.
