A Different Route (ASL, One Piece)

1. A New beginning

Hello everyone! This is my first ever Fanfic so pls tell me how it's going and if you like it. English is not my first language so tell me if I make mistakes. Also feedback on the flow of the story (to fast or slow), the conversations and just my overall writing would be appreciated.

Disclaimer I do not own One Piece or any of the characters, just my twist of the story.

A New Beginning

'LAAAAANNDDDD. GUYS I SEEEE LAAAANNNDD!!' Sabo screamed happy while shaking his brothers awake. Ace woke up looking the way which Sabo pointed, Luffy just started to mumble something about food. They had been at sea for a week now and food had run out the day before.

After the incident at Gray Terminal, Sabo found his brothers again and saved them from being burned to death. The brothers had escaped to the forest where they had a moment to discus everything. Since Sabo's father had threatened to kill the brothers and the nobles had tried to kill the brothers Ace and Sabo knew that staying on the island would mean death. The older two thought it was best to grab their stuff and leave, taking to the seas as they always wanted. It was just a bit faster than they had assumed.

So now the three brothers are all on their own, Luffy screaming for meat, Ace bonking him on the head for the noise and Sabo putting away the sail so they can pull the boat onto the beach.

'Luffy don't forget your pipe please, and no running away' Ace grabbed his little brothers neck and pushed the pipe in Luffy's arms. 'But i'm hungry Aceeeee' Luffy responded with a pout.

'We know Luffy' Sabo and Ace said in union, 'The first thing we're going to do is hunting our lunch and dinner' Sabo added while looking at the forest. Not too far from the beach there was a forest with big trees like at their home Goa. 'It seems like a forest with plenty to choose from!'.

Once the boat was safe they started to hunt for their food, noticing it was filled with wild life. 'This reminds me of home' Sabo grunted while jumping on top of a tiger and hitting it on the head with his pipe. Luffy hit the animal at the same spot not much later and Ace hit it with all his might on his jaw making a upward move. 'Yeah Dandan would have been proud.' Ace smirked, 'Alright Luffy why don't you get wood for the fire, Sabo and I will start with skinning the beast.'

'Okayyy.' Luffy ran off and later on returned with his arms stretched to hold the amount of wood he was carrying and his signature grin on his face. The three boys were so busy with preparing their food that they didn't notice being watched by two men. 'Those kids are strong, i've never seen someone take down a full grown tiger like that!' 'I know! Pretty sure people pay good money for slaves on the Grand Line, we need to tell the boss about this!'.

Meanwhile the three brothers were stuffing their faces, joking about Ace's narcolepsy attack and just enjoying their freedom. They decided to stay here for a few days, to rest up and restock on food. Also Sabo knew that their food supply wouldn't last long on the sea with Luffy's appetite so they needed to eat here as much as they could. After a little nap in the sun, the three boys set out to find fresh water. None of the animals scared the brothers much, Luffy just used them for target practice and if the animal got to close it learned what a pipe to the head felt like... twice...

'Luffy you just missed again. How can you miss such a big head?' Ace laughed looking at the big snake. 'It's harder than it looks okay, I'll get it next time! I'll show you!' Luffy grinned. 'You missed again hahahe we have to work on your aim!' Ace laughed all the while hitting the snake with his pipe on the head.

After finally finding some fresh water, they refilled their flasks and returned to the boat. On the way back the brothers attacked the same snake and brought it with them for dinner. Back at the beach Sabo puts the flasks away inside the boat while Luffy and Ace find more wood for the fire again. Since they had a few hours before they needed to start with dinner the three decided to train. This contained mostly of Luffy trying to hit his brothers and retracting his arm without hopefully falling on his face, while the older two boys just fought one another, sometimes dodging his attempts.

Meanwhile not too far from the three brothers a group of pirates were discussing their plan of action. 'That devil-child will sell for more than the other two.' 'That's only better, they're strong we can sell them for a pretty good amount either way!' 'Okay calm down, you three get those kids, I want to see them with my own eyes.' 'Yes captain Don!'

Back with the three brothers Sabo was on the ground clutching his side with a pained expression. Ace crouched down next to him looking flabbergasted, 'Are you okay Sabo? Luffy got you good.'.

'Ugh yea, that hurt but I'm fine.' Sabo responded while getting back up on his feet. The two looked at their younger brother who was jumping up and down in happiness 'I hit Sabo! I hit Sabo!'. Ace bonked his younger brother on the head and responded, 'Don't be so happy, you always miss your targets!'. Sabo who was secretly proud of his younger brother and helped calm down Ace, 'Luffy try to hit that tree over there!'. Luffy tried and missed only just a little, also his arm stayed a straight line. 'Still missing! What if you put your left hand like this to help you aim?' Ace said while holding his left hand before him, fingers to the sky. Luffy copied his brother and tried again, hitting the tree and smashing a hole through it.

The three were roaring and howling, Luffy repeating the act and hitting half of his targets. But that didn't matter for him because he could break through the trees when he did hit them so he was happy. They continued on with their antics, Sabo and Ace fighting again and Luffy working on his aim. Because of their excitement they didn't notice the three men stepping through the tree line and making their way to them. It was only when one of the man grabbed ahold of Luffy that the brothers realized they had been reckless.
