Katie's P.O.V - Two Days Later
"Seriously, I think I'm in love." I heard him beaming, as my best friend, Crissy, Mel and I walked into the house.
Having told Crissy all about the date, she looked back at me, walking just ahead, shooting a smile, just before we walked into the kitchen.
"Someone order the life of the party?!" Crissy beamed, walking in, arms up.
"Yeah, but they're running late... Jim, when's your mother arriving?!" Corey called out, making us all laugh.
"Wow, dude!" Crissy shot him the middle finger, as he stood by the coffee machine, waiting on it to boil.
Jim walked back into the kitchen, having been outside smoking with the other guys.I leaned back on the counter, next to the fridge, as Jim told Corey to fuck off, before he greeted Crissy, his girlfriend of two months.
Sid pushed himself off the counter he was leaning on and came over to me, leaning back, on my right. "Hey."
"Hey." I smiled at him.
"I was gonna call, but Corey said you'd be here." He smiled back at me.
"I wasn't about to skip out on this." I grinned, before I noticed the room all looking over at us.
When the guys noticed that I noticed them, they all cleared their throats, going back to getting coffee and picking at the food on the kitchen table.
Sid snickered, before Corey got on with what he wanted us all for."Right, so I've been given permission, by Helena Raven, for myself and a few friends to document the ghosts at Cyrus Manor." He was beaming.
"Oh, hell no!" Mel laughed, staring at her fella. "It's like the house of Satan himself."
"There's no proof to that! It's mostly little kids." I shrugged, already knowing there was no way I'd even walk past the street the house was on, never mind go inside said house.
"Guys, the owners never let anyone in... I've got all new gear to try out, and I'm not going alone." Corey looked between his lady and myself.
"Why not? Feel like you might die? Get possessed? Start singing Victorian Nursery rhymes, when you're meant to be sleeping?" I teased, making Sid laugh.
"Funny... There's a lot of rooms, so if we scattered, we can cover more ground. Now, who's in?" Corey asked us all.
"I'm in." Joey raised his hand, standing by the back doors of Jim's kitchen.
"When?" Shawn asked.
"Tomorrow night. I know it's short notice, but I just got permission this morning." Corey explained, before anyone could complain.
"I'll go." Shawn nodded.
"Seriously?" Kelsey, Shawn's high school sweetheart, looked up at the man.
"Yeah. It's a haunted house." He shrugged.
"Fuck, dude..." I frowned, knowing both he and Corey were gonna turn to me next.On cue, Corey came over, putting an arm around me.
"I'll give you the Ovilus three." He grinned.
"Look, I know I grew up in a haunted house, next door to a graveyard, but the Cyrus Manor is the real fucking deal. I can't do that." I couldn't look at him, knowing he'd give the puppy eyes.
"He's doing it." Joey confirmed I was getting the eyes.
"I'll go with you." Sid offered.
"You never come ghost huntin'!" Corey looked at him shocked, arm still around me.
"If Sid goes, I'll go, but I want the Ovilus." I set my demands.
"Sid?" Corey asked.
"Yeah, I'm in." He nodded.
"What is going on, right now?" Corey asked, walking back over to Melody.
Sid took my hand, pulling me out the room, as the guys all discussed who was going and what equipment they'll be using. We walked to the staircase, sitting next to each other, away from the others.
"I've been thinking about you a lot." He smiled at me.
"Same here." I nodded, unable to stop smiling around him. "You ever go on the ghost hunts before?" I asked him.
"Not really... I just hear all about it, when Corey's back." He chuckled.
"OK, well I'm a wuss. I will be clinging onto you for dear life and I will maybe start crying and getting paranoid... Oh, and please don't let Corey lock me in any rooms. He says my fear will drive the ghost out for him to capture, but I only ever hear him laughing at me." I held my head in my hands, recalling the last hunt we went on.
"Hey." Sid placed an arm around me. "I won't let anything happen to you... Ghosty will have to get through me first, and I'm gonna put up one hell of a fight."
I leaned into his side, hiding in his neck. "I feel safe with you... We're not even there, yet."
Sid chuckled, holding me close. "I think I love you." He whispered.
I looked up at him, as he looked down at me.
What would of lead to us kissing, and starting our happily ever after, was interrupted by my best friend."You guys are so cute together." Crissy smiled, standing at the bottom step.
We both turned to look at her, slightly annoyed with her, when she grabbed my hand.
"We're going. I need to get new shoes for the hunt." She pulled me to my feet.
"Urgh!" I frowned at her.
She gave me a look, saying she knew what she was doing. "We'll see ya, Sidney." She turned to the dorky DJ.
"Cristina..." He gave her a sarcastic smile. "Mind if I tag along?" He changed his tone.
"Sure!" I smiled.
"NO! Girls only!" Crissy called over our voices, before she dragged me out the house.
"I'll see ya!" I called out to Sid, before she shut the door. "What the fuck was that?!" I asked her, as she walked down to her car.
"Katie, let's make him work for you..." She smiled, before unlocking her car.
Unhappy, I walked down the drive and climbed in the passenger seat. "Are you fucking serious?" I frowned, as she climbed in the drivers seat, buckling up, before starting up her car.
"Get that you guys have this instant connection, but make him work for you, baby." Crissy always called me 'baby', being born on the same day as me, just two years before."Criss, he just told me he loves me." I told her.
"No, he said 'I think I love you'!" She pointed out. "He thinks!"
"It's the same thing." I rolled my eyes at her, as she drove us to the mall.
"No, it's not. We're going to make him fall in love with you for definite. Which is why I'm coming ghost hunting with you both, so he can't make a move... It's great that he makes you feel confident, as we all know you bragging about how good you look never happens, with your anxiety and depression, but I want you to have the real thing. You've known him for two days, so just kick it back a little, and make him work for your affections."
"I hate this, I hate you, but you make a point." I gave in.
"I know. We're gonna make Sidney Wilson drop to his hands and knees for you." Crissy grew an evil smirk.
