Bachelorette

Maya had exhaled as she looked how everything was changing. She was getting married in one week and it all seemed to be too real to her. Just a couple of weeks ago she was an 18-year-old girl who had graduated high school and now she would get married to someone she barely knew existed. It was Maya's wedding shower and as much as she wanted to say that things were amazing for her, it was still tough to think that she would have to adjust to everything.

"Come on, M," Abigail said as she held out a beer to Maya.

Over the years Maya didn't allow many people into her life, nor did she think it was actually necessary to have a huge friend group. Maya shook her head as Abigail looked at Maya and sat down next to her best friend.

"I thought we said after high school you would lighten up," Abigail said.

"I will lighten up, I promise, but not for awhile. High school didn't end with pleasant news. I'm being forced into a lot at the moment, and I need to think about a lot as well," Maya said.

"The wedding is taking a lot of your time and energy, but I thought that you and Josh were doing okay," Abigail said as Maya looked at her.

"Things are going fine with us, but for now, our relationship is being build on the fact that he is overprotective because we are forced into this marriage, but what happens after that? Will our relationship grow stronger or will it all fall down? That's the question and one I've been wondering about for a little too long as well," Maya said.

"You guys will be fine," Abigail said as she went over to talk to other people.

Maya had exhaled while she looked at everything. She was at her own bachelorette party, but she didn't feel like there was much she could enjoy. It was like her mind was going through every stage of what would be the last few days of her on her own, but at the same time, her mind was how her childhood was and how she grew up with her mom. It seemed unreal yet it looked like that was her future.
