We Can Make It Work

Maya had smiled as she and Josh were busy walking through the park while things were finally cooling down. It was 10 days until the big day and neither one of them knew how to feel about it. The Bear Creek Mountain Resort would be the one place that would test their marriage, and Maya didn't even know how Josh truly felt about all of it.

"Things are moving fast, aren't they?" Josh asked as Maya had nodded.

"Yeah they are. Before we know it the wedding day will be here," Maya said.

"The showers are happening literally on Friday and everything seems to be happening after that. How are you feeling? Are you stressed?" Josh asked as Maya looked at him surprised.

"We are walking on a Wednesday evening in a part at 8 o'clock. Why would that be stressful?" Maya asked.

"I mean about the wedding," Josh said.

"Why would I even be stressed about that?" Maya asked.

"I know this isn't the way you want things to go. You didn't ask for any of this yet you had to go through with all of it," Josh said.

"Well, I won't say that it had been unpleasant. You've made it pretty bearable," Maya said as Josh took Maya's hand and they stood still.

"I'll always try to make things as bearable for you as possible. You did not ask for this at all and I will not do what my mother did. If you don't want something I will not force it onto you," Josh said as Maya smiled.

"Thank you, Josh. You've given it so much space and freedom with this engagement and the arrangements that our parents made, and I am so grateful for that. We can make it work. We can make this marriage work. If anything, you have proven that to me," Maya said.

"I love you," Josh said as Maya looked at him.

She has wanted to say those words now for awhile, but she didn't know if he felt the same. She smiled as she leaned forward and gently kissed him before pulling away.

"I love you too," Maya said.

Josh smiled, as he cupped Maya's cheeks, and instantly pulling her closer. This kiss was more passionate and lasted longer. With the kiss, both of them knew that they would be okay.
