There are four days left until the final submission, and somehow the deadline pressured the girl. She knows that she needs to think fast and come up with a new idea even though her painting is almost done.
Four days left, and Winter knew that she won't waste her time any more. It passed eleven at night and somehow sleep knocked her senses. But she knows that she shouldn't, so she chugs down a can of coffee to survive.
It helped a bit.
Karina was sitting on the couch just right next to Winter. One of her hands laid down on Winter's hip. Her eyes were stuck on the television, watching the continuation of One Piece.
Winter smiled once at the older girl before pulling out a new brush from her art box. Since there are lots of vibrant and happy colours in her painting, this would be the time when she needs to express a bit of darkness.
She dips her brush in the black acrylic, swaying her hands before drawing some thick lines on top and the bottom of the frame. She took another brush for dark blue. Some rough splats and splash on her canvas.
Darkness, or what she expressed as sadness.
There's always sadness in everything. Every sunshine will have rainy days and thunders. Not every day that the sun will be smiling. Sometimes they wanted to hide, to run, to be heartbroken, to be hurt.
She adds a few more dark blues to it before she moved her eyes to the tattoo artist for a moment to find the artist asleep on the couch with a slightly hanging open mouth. Winter chuckled at the view before pulling out her phone, taking a picture of it as a memory.
She then put down her phone with a soft laugh, slowly removing Karina's hand from her hip. Winter knew she need to learn to be brave without the artist's presence. Karina will not always be there for Winter every time. Winter knew she need to stand back on her own feet and survive on her own.
****
It's almost two in the morning. Karina is still on the couch, sleeping. Winter was still unsatisfied with her painting.
"Oh god. Why did I have such a stupid brain? Why aren't they working when I need them the most?", Winter groans lightly when she got no idea for her to improve her painting.
Her professor expected a lot from her, and here is Winter. Dumb and stupid. She doesn't want to disappoint the older man.
Sleep slowly takes her body as her eyes slowly become heavy. That's when Winter knew the caffeine is not affecting her anymore. She stand up from her seat, walked towards the fridge and pulled out another can of coffee before chugging it down, empty.
She then headed back towards her painting, hoping that the idea will come and the sleep will go away sooner.
One hour passed, and it was two in the morning.
Winter is still dumb, and stupid.
"Urgh...", Winter silently groans, massaging her temple because of the stress.
