Amari's POV
1 Day Before The Outbreak
Wednesday, August 18
10:29 amI woke up from yet another nightmare but also a headache, the night before suddenly rushing back to me. Me and the girls drank and ate but not as much as we wanted. They still had to drive home. I sit up and rest my back against my headboard.
I look to my right and see an Advil box with a glass of water next to it. I give a small smile and open the box, I take the pill out the plastic and pop it into my mouth. I gulp down some water and swing my feet over the side of the bed.
I stand to my feet and stretch my sore limbs. I let out a yawn and walk out of the room. I head downstairs and into the kitchen. I go towards the pantry and go to grab the dog food, noticing the bag was gone. I slap my hand against my forehead, I forgot to buy some more yesterday.
I leave the pantry and greeted by pepper, flake, and bane. They stand in front of me, expecting me to start on their food. "Sorry guys, there's none left." They tilt their head to the side before turning to leave and head into the living room.
I shake my head before entering the kitchen once again. I open the fridge and notice that I'm running out of eggs. And back in the pantry some bread was missing, along with crackers, cereal, and rice. Guess I'm going grocery shopping this morning. I head over to the staircase and climb up them, I walk into my room and take out some clothes.
I put on some blue ripped jeans, a loose red graphic t-shirt. I tie my hair into a ponytail and put on my red Yankees SnapBack. I put on a pair of my white air forces. I go downstairs and walk over to the table beside the front door. I grab my house keys and my black mask. "Ok guys, don't reck the house ok?" I pet their heads before opening the door and locking it behind me.
I walk over to the garage and watch them slowly open upwards. I grab the keys to the Jeep and unlock it, getting in I put on my seatbelt and start the car. I drive out into the driveway and onto the dirt road.
As I'm driving I turn on the radio, "Recent reports on this unknown disease is nothing but saddening news. There have been over a thousand deaths and hundreds of sick victims."
I turn the volume up and stop at the red light.
"We have yet to hear from the government officials any news on a possible vaccine or cure. But we have learned of the origin, they are saying it is a type of mutation occurring in the body after death."
After death? Is that even possible, I step on the gas once the light turns green and make a right turn. What kind of disease is this? All I know is that it's giving me even more of a reason to stay at home.
"Wait, we're getting some news from tony. Tony take it away." The channel makes a static noise before a gruff and exasperated voice is heard over the radio. "It's crazy! They're all crazy! This is the end, stay at home! Don't trust anyo-" I clench my hands around the steering wheel as the broadcast just shuts off.
Let's just get these groceries and get back home. I turn off the radio and sit in silence for the rest of the drive.
Time Skip
15 Minutes LaterI park my car in a spot a relatively close to the entrance. Turning off the engine I exit the Jeep and walk toward the doors. I grab a cart and begin looking for the right food. Leaving the store with a cart full of food was not my intention. I originally just came for eggs, bread, cereal, and crackers, but everything just looked good.
When I was looking for the cereal I came across the some protein bars and powder. So I just grabbed a few. But then I saw some fruit snacks, then I somehow ended up in the freezer isle. Long story short, I ended getting multiple different frozen meats, protein powder and bars, ice cream, yogurt, fruits, bread, eggs. But I forgot the crackers.
