The school day ended as quickly as it started. Bill had convinced Dani to go to her last few classes by some miracle no one had yet to figure out.
Everyone was walking home, when Gustav ran up to Bill and Dani.
"Bill, heute Abend gibt es ein Bandtreffen, wir glauben, unser Manager hat uns eine weitere Tour besorgt." He said to him in excitement.
("Bill, band meeting tonight, we think our manager got us another tour.")Bill's heart dropped. A tour would mean only one thing, no waking up to her nearly every morning, no helping her pick her outfit, no more deep talks, no more...
No more kisses. No more hugs.
No more Dani.He knew, however, he had to be happy for the band.
"auf keinen Fall wirklich? das ist großartig!" He lied to his drummer.
("No way, really? That's great!")Dani knew something was up, but didn't want to say anything. She could be wrong, but Bill almost seemed upset about what Gustav said.
The three of them continued to walk home, Gustav talking to Bill in German about the new upcoming tour.
"Dani, are you going home today?" Bill asked her, making sure he said the right words.
"Oh, she can come over, it's fine!" Gustav brushed off Bill's clear uncomfort, which made Dani even more concerned.
"I don't mind, it's what you think is best." Dani asked Bill, who stayed silent.
"I think it's best you stay home." He admitted. Not in a bitter way, but it still had a type of tone Dani couldn't make out.
A tone that hurt her."Oh, okay." She side-hugged him loosely, to which he didn't reciprocate, and she crossed the street to get to her house. Shutting the door, she felt confused and concerned. Hurt, even.
"You good?" Aydan yelled at her through the kitchen, and she felt a few tears roll down her face.
"Yeah just... A weird day." She replied, sniffling in the middle of her sentence.
Aydan walked through the kitchen doorway, seeing her wipe her tears away.
"Who was it." He demanded.
Aydan wasn't always a good brother to her, especially when he drank, but if someone dared make his baby sister cry he would damn well sort them out.
"It's nothing. No one needs to get hurt, just a rough day." She assured him, calming him down eventually.
He held his arms out for a hug, which Dani didn't take.
"Well? I don't offer a hug often, take it while you fucking can." He averted his eyes, and felt her soft arms wrap around his waist. He rested his arms on her shoulders.
"You're gonna be fucking fine. You always are." He whispered to her, making her laugh.
"Thanks Aydan." She sniffled and broke the hug.
Aydan explained that he made food, and she can try some if she wants. She graciously agreed and asked if they could watch a movie together, just like they did when they were kids.
Aydan was reluctant, but eventually agreed.—
The rest of the winter afternoon felt lonely. Dani had sent Bill a few texts, asking if he was okay however he did not reply.
Lying on her bed looking up at the ceiling, she decided there was no point being a depressed little bitch over a boy. The art of just saying 'fuck it'.
Walking over to her phone, she dialled the number of the boy she had been trying to reach for the whole afternoon.
