chapter fifteen

Hearing Jennie's name, Jisoo quickly hid behind the couch to avoid her.

"Taehyung, what took you so long?" Jennie asked.

"Uh..I was in bathroom."

Jennie groaned entered the hall unaware of Jisoo's presence in the house.

"About Kai..."

"Police are doing their best to catch the killer." Taehyung said and took her inside. He looked for Jisoo but she was nowhere in his sight. He let Jennie sit on the couch behind which Jisoo was hidden.

"I can't believe Kai is dead now." Jennie wept a little burying her head in Taehyung's shoulder. Jisoo was sad knowing how they lost a friend but that didn't lasted long.

"But I think he kind of deserved it."

Jisoo couldn't believed what she heard. "Huh? Why?" Jennie rubbed her tears and proceed to talk trash about the person she once dated and broke up after knowing he had been flirting several girls behind her back while dating her.

"He was heart breaker who broke many hearts." Jennie confessed.

"Where were you last night?" Taehyung said changing the topic. Jisoo was about to throw tantrums but she controlled herself wondering why she should intervene into something that doesn't concerns her and at the same time she doesn't wanna get caught by her.

"I was at home." Jennie said. "I don't think there will be classes today, right?"

"Yeah. But we have to go to police station."

"Oh I see. Didn't know one day i will be interrogated by the police."

"Do you need anything?"

"I'm okay." Jennie grinned sadly. "I wished he wasn't too greedy or he would have been alive."

"Maybe yeah."

Meanwhile, Jisoo's legs were cramped from hiding in the same space for a while. She decides to sneak into Taehyung's bedroom to hide until Jennie's actually gone. She succeeded in getting inside his room where she slept last night like a log.

"I shouldn't make any noise." Jisoo thought after hitting her toe in the door. She controlled herself although the pain was extremely paining her. Toe pain was the worst thing after all.

"..and you remembered when Kai slipped and fell right into the car trunk?"

"This kinda makes me nostalgic." Taehyung said. Nobody expected this at all. Death is so uncertain and unpredictable, nobody in this world gets away without it

"Oh btw do you still have that notebook?"

"Yeah, why do you need?"

"I'm just gonna quickly take it from your room then." Jennie stood up and went straight to Taehyung's room where Jisoo was hiding.

"Hmm.." she went straight to his desk and rummaged through the boxes.

From where jisoo was hiding, she could see Jennie clearly invading his personal space.

"What is she looking for?" Jisoo thought while hiding under the bed.

Just then Jennie took out a copy. She opened it and teared a page. Turning around without getting suspicious, she went out. Jisoo had a sigh of relief that she wasn't caught.

"Found it."

"I wonder what copy it is because I don't remember you lending me anything."

"Stupid. It's your copy. I have to take notes. Remember we still share a class."

"Yeah." Taehyung said and looked at the direction of his room.

"Perhaps she's there." He thought.

After Jennie left, Taehyung went to his room and called out Jisoo name.

"Hey, someone will hear us." Jisoo said coming out from under the bed.

"She's gone." Taehyung said. "How did you even managed to hide for a long time?"

"It was matter of survival to me."

"Really?"

"Anyways, you probably have to go now."

"Ah yeah right. Should I drop you at your home?"

"I will be fine." Jisoo said before leaving.

Same day, at crime scene.

Detective Eunwoo was enquiring the crime scene where Kai's body laid last night.

"Strange." Eunwoo spoke. "At this rate, we are going to lose to that dark shadow."

"I don't think so." Arin said picking a piece of glass under the couch. "It smells suspicious."

"Send it to the forensic. We have a lot to cover."

Arin nods. Eunwoo turns to question the other police guy.

"So what about his family?"

"They are all overseas. They are trying return as soon as possible."

"And friends?"

"I have called them. They will be at the office."

"Then let's meet them first. We might get something."

At detective's office, Taehyung and his friends including Jennie, Nayeon, Sehun already present waiting for Eunwoo.
Eunwoo questioned each of them and let them go once he was done.

"He doesn't look a good guy neither a bad guy but that's not enough reason to get killed."

"Students at this age are all like that given his background." Arin added. "There must be something big we are missing."

"Also it's strange how a murder took place in the middle of crowd. How brave the killer is."

"Yes, according to the witnesses Kai suddenly dropped death on the floor until they noticed the pool of blood coming out from his chest. The weapon laid there but there was no fingerprints. The CCTV cameras acting like they weren't working only that moment."

"There are big masterminds behind this but first we need to know the reason to catch the culprit. I'm sure we will catch him once we get the reason."

"But sir, there's no connection between any victims."

"There is one thing...."
