Hi, I am Aashi Kapoor. I am 25 years old, and I work as a librarian. On my way to the local Café, although winters are coming to an end, the wind is still brisk. The rooftops are no longer covered in snow, the sun shines a lot more brightly instead of hiding away in the mist.
I am not a fan of winters though, because they make me want to stay in bed all day. All curled up under the comforting warmth of soft blankets. But the reason I don't 'Hate' winters is, I get to enjoy more coffee and Hot chocolate.
(A/n-Aashi's outfit)
The heels of my boots clanked with each step taken. I pulled the scarf closer to my face to stop my nose from turning red due to the crisp winds. I pushed the glass door of the café.The greeting bells hanging above the entrance chimed behind me.
The little paper hanging had 'open' written on it. It opens up at six in the morning which is great but I can only Imagine how difficult it must be for the staff to wake up so early and get to work.
As soon as I entered, I took notice of the smell of roasted coffee beans surrounding the air. The delightful view of baked goods on display. If I could devour each piece of it, I wouldn't think twice. The interior is so cozy and welcoming.
I waited in the queue for my turn and soon I came face to face with the sweetest Barista I have met in my life. She greeted me from behind the counter and smiled and asked for my order.
"One Marshmallow Latte please."
"Somebody is in love with marshmallows aren't they?"
I couldn't help but flash a grin to her comment. Yes, I do love marshmallows and they make the best coffee so why not?
"Marshmallow latte coming right up, love. You should go and get comfortable on your favorite spot till then?"
Oh yeah apparently I love sitting by the window. So, whenever I see that seat is not taken, which is quite usual, I go and hop on the chair. I don't know why people won't love to stare out of that window.
I went ahead and sat down on a chair in my cozy spot. The temperature inside is pretty warm. I loosened the scarf around my neck and waited for my order to arrive.
The road is not as occupied with people walking by or with vehicles right now but goodness, the sky looks so pretty right now.
I am blessed to grow up in this small town where the beauty of nature shines in its glory to the fullest. My attention wavered away from the scene to land on a man that has been coming here for a week.
(Something like this)
Dressed up in a black jacket and blue jeans. Those glasses sitting on his nose, make him look nerdy yet good looking.
Black wavy locks of hair and a nose perfectly sculpted. There's just something about him sitting right in front of me, so keenly focused on his laptop screen.
I usually don't get to see him for as long the moment I arrive, he's about to leave. Maybe he's new here, that's why I haven't seen him around before.
I wonder what he might be working on? What if he looked up and caught me staring at him like this? Would he think I'm a creep?
Oh,no! He just looked up. The amount of panic I felt the moment his eyes stared up through those spectacles, is unexplainable. With a jerky motion I turned my face away from him as soon as I possibly could.
Woosh, calm down Aashi maybe he didn't see you. Not like it's something illicit? Right?
Things we humans say to make ourselves feel better. But luckily my order arrived at the same moment so it saved me from the misery of drowning into the deepest lenghts of embarrassment.
"Here you go, love. Enjoy your order."
Amy winked at me with a warm smile before walking back to the counter to assist Natasha, the sweet barista I told you about.
The feeling you get when you hold the hot, warm cup of drink in your cold palms is pure bliss. I took a sip of it and relished the feeling of a warmth spreading down to my chest.
Screech of the chair reached my ears from the side and I saw the same man getting up from his seat to leave...told you! When I step in he's already about to leave.
My gaze followed his tall figure leaving the café. The door closed behind him and the bells chimed again, signifying his exit.
Maybe someday, he won't disappear as soon as I am here?
But before that I should finish up my drink and leave for my job..。❅*⋆⍋*∞*。..。❅*⋆⍋*∞*。
___________________________________So... How was it? I kept it short under 1k words. I do lack in the skill of conveying and capturing the essence of emotions and vibes in short descriptive words but that's why I decided to try this short story let's see where it goes.
The next chapter will be from his pov, so are you excited?
How much would you rate this chapter out of 10?
