Standing still on his place, Yash took a closer look at the ladies. He was perplexed because the old woman's facial features resembled someone.
The next moment another young lady came forward. It was Aashi.
The woman he loved. The one he had been dying to see. She looked so radiant and beautiful that he couldn't help but stare at her. She laughed softly, looking towards him. He was so delighted and yet, he had no clue how to react. The elder lady was Aashi's mother. She noticed the way Yash and Aashi silently stared at each other and walked away from Aashi.
"You're such a lovely boy. I knew you would be a caring husband to my daughter and a great son in law to us. I knew since the first moment I saw you."
She said pulling Yash's cheeks and tells him that she admires him. Gaining some control over his senses Yash quickly bowed down to touch her feet and greet her pleasantly.
After lovingly ruffling through his hair she turned towards Aashi and gestured her to come forward.
Yash was taken aback by the sudden news, he couldn't contain his happiness . He stood there silently observing everything.
"Now, you two should go ahead and spend some time with each other. I know arranged marriage is something the youth fears these days but give each other a chance? There's beauty in learning how to love each other, even after marriage."
The lady said holding Aashi's hand in hers. Yash and Aashi nodded in agreement.
The café was soon filled with loud chatter and laughter. Yash and Aashi were left sitting alone at a table with two cups of Aashi's favorite coffee waiting in front of them.
And yes you guessed it right, Amy served it for them and she was smiling from ear to ear. Even Natasha from behind the counter gave a thumbs up to both of them, wishing them luck.
"You don't have to pay the bill today. It's on us! But the only price you should be paying is..."
Amy began to speak to them but stopped in the middle to dramatically inhale a deep breath before continuing hee speech.
"Please go home as a couple today. You two look so cute together. I'd die if you don't end up together, please?"
She exclaimed. Bowed down, joining hands in front of them. Begging them to become a couple as soon as possible. Because apparently Amy has been shipping them together more than anyone else.
"Stop it Amy. I've told you a thousand times to stop drinking coffee so much, because then you act stupid, Gosh. I'm sorry, we'll take care of her."
This scene could draw unwanted attention to them so Natasha dragged Amy away, who was on the edge of becoming a crying mess. A dramatic crying mess.
Aashi took a sip of her coffee and looked into his eyes with love and admiration. Yash's heart was beating so fast, he might explode at any given moment. It's next to impossible for him to control his overflowing love for Aashi.
"Don't you want to say something, Yash?"
She asked. This made him put a hand over his chest, the skin of his palm could feel the pulse going even higher. Aashi's cheeks turned pink upon seeing him this way.
The steam from the hot coffee fogged Yash's glasses. Disturbing his beautiful vision. He quickly cleaned his glasses and looked back at her.
He had a lot of things that he wanted to tell her but then his overwhelming feelings won him. He couldn't speak.
He realized that, the note wrote for her was still in his pocket. In what hope did he kept the note always with him? No one knows, but it turned out to be a right thing to do. He took the note and slid it across the table towards Aashi.
Her eyes sparkled. Curiously, she stared at the letter for a brief moment before opening it. As she read through each word, she realized how much effort he did to pour his heart out on this little piece of paper. It did not have those bookish romantic promises.
He was not the most romantic type but he didn't step back from trying to express his love to her. He was willing to learn all the ways to make her feel loved the way she wants. The way she deserves.
A sentimental atmosphere filled with love and understanding had just taken over both of them.
Aashi was deeply moved by his confession and gave Yash a long, passionate hug, and in that moment, Yash knew that she was finally his own. But the moment felt to good to be true so he asked her.
"Are you not mad at me? Did I ruin anything for you?"
Aashi raised her head to look up at him with pearl like tears streaming down her face. Her nose tip a little red.
"Why would I hug you if I were mad? I love you. I am so happy that I have this opportunity to walk with you in the journey of our life, together."
Her voice held sincerity and longing. She hugged him tighter now. Aashi and Yash's parents secretly watched the scene unfold from a distance, in the café, hiding behind a wall. All of them smiled and gave a high five to each other in celebration.
"So, you accept me?"
Yash questioned her again.
"Yes, I do. Now don't disturb me. I love your hugs already they're so comforting. Mine."
The first three words that she uttered were finally able to put his heart at ease. Aashi snuggled her face against Yash's chest and it made him chuckle.
"I love you, Miss librarian. You're cute. I can't wait to marry you."
A soft and gentle smile crossed her face. She thanked the destiny for bringing them together. They were not expecting to fall in love, not looking for anything but that's how the universe loves to work its magic sometimes.
You may feel lost walking on the unknown paths of life someday but who knows? They might take you to the most beautiful turns. The most endearing moments.
So come on, Let's cheer up for these destined love birds and let ourselves enjoy A sip of destiny, on days we expect nothing from ourselves. On days when silence might feel like the warmest hug.
