Henrie woke up early in the morning feeling refreshed and ready to start the day. He had a lot of things planned for the day, starting with cleaning up the house. He dusted the furniture, vacuumed the floors, and did the laundry. After that, he decided to hit the gym and get in a good workout. He spent an hour lifting weights and running on the treadmill.
After his workout, he came back home feeling energized and hungry. He decided to cook himself some lunch and made his favorite dish, spaghetti with meatballs. As he was cooking, he turned on the TV to watch the news and catch up on what was happening in the world. That's when he saw Rylee on the screen. She was with famous lawyer Jake Carson, and they looked stunning together feeling his heart breaking. The news anchor started talking about the hot gossip of them being in a relationship, and Henrie couldn't believe it. He turned up the volume and listened intently as the anchor went on to say that the two of them looked absolutely perfect at the Law Enterprise formal.
Henrie couldn't help but feel envious as he watched the mini-interview with Jake Carson. The interviewer asked Jake about his relationship with Rylee, and Jake confirmed that they were indeed seeing each other. He went on to say that Rylee was a wonderful person and that he enjoyed spending time with her.
The interviewer then asked Jake about the Law Enterprise formal and how he felt about attending the event with Rylee. Jake replied, "It was a great event, and Rylee looked absolutely stunning. It was an honor to be her date for the evening."He couldn't help but admire how beautiful she looked on the screen, but it also made him feel uneasy. He couldn't help but feel a tinge of jealousy as he watched the interview.
The interviewer then asked Jake if he saw a future with Rylee, to which Jake replied, "I don't want to get ahead of myself, but I really enjoy spending time with Rylee, and we have a great connection. Who knows what the future holds?"
Henrie felt a lump forming in his throat as he watched the interview. He couldn't believe that Rylee was with someone else, especially someone like Jake Carson. It's gut-wrenching to watch the love of your life be with someone else, knowing it's your fault and that he can't compliment her like he would.
Henrie was surprised to see Rylee's name light up on his phone. He hesitated for a moment, unsure if he was ready to talk to her. But his curiosity got the better of him, and he answered the call.
"Hey, Rylee. How are you?" he asked, trying to sound casual.
"I'm good, Henrie. I just wanted to remind you about our ultrasound today," Rylee replied, her voice filled with excitement.
Henrie's heart skipped a beat. He had been looking forward to seeing their baby, but he was also nervous about seeing Rylee again. They hadn't talked much since she told him about the pregnancy, and he wasn't sure where they stood.
"Right, the ultrasound. I'll be there," he said, trying to keep his voice steady.
They said their goodbyes, and Henrie spent the rest of the morning going over different scenarios in his head. What would he say to Rylee? How would he react to seeing the baby on the screen? Would he be able to handle the emotions that came with it?
As he made his way to the clinic, Henrie's nerves were on edge. But as soon as he saw Rylee's smiling face, all his fears melted away.
"Hey, Henrie. I'm so glad you could make it," Rylee said, giving him a warm hug.
Henrie felt his heart swell with affection. He had missed her touch, her scent, her warmth. But he knew he couldn't let his guard down. Not now, not ever.
They sat down in the waiting room. Rylee started talking about the baby, describing how active he or she had been lately and how she couldn't wait to see the baby. They also discussed the different things Dash does at each of their homes.
Rylee said, "Dash asked me a question that struck me today."
"I asked, 'Oh yeah? What was it?'"
"He asked if this baby and he shared the same father, and I told him yes. Then he just said he missed you and ran into my parents' home."
"That's shocking. Well, I'm glad to be here, Rylee. I never got to experience this with Dash. I missed so many milestones. Although this pregnancy wasn't planned and it's not a good time for us with everything going on between us, I'm still grateful to be a part of it and to have you as the mother of my children. I want to be the best dad for Dash and for this new baby."
"Thank you, Henrie. I'm glad you're here too. I think it's important for you to be a part of this, even if things aren't perfect between us right now. And I know you'll be a great dad. Dash already adores you, and I have no doubt that this new baby will too," Rylee replied with a smile.
Henrie listened intently, feeling a sense of awe wash over him. He couldn't believe that he was going to be a father. It was a dream come true, but also a nightmare. He didn't know if he was ready for the responsibility, the commitment, the sacrifice.
As they were called in for the ultrasound, Henrie felt his heart rate increase. He was about to see his child for the first time, and he didn't know what to expect.
The technician led them to a darkened room and started the ultrasound. Henrie held his breath as he watched the screen, waiting for a glimpse of the baby.
And then he saw it. A tiny, fluttering heart. A small, perfect body. A miracle of life.
Henrie felt tears prick at his eyes as he watched the baby move on the screen. He couldn't believe that he had helped create this little life, that he was going to be a part of it forever.
Rylee was beaming with happiness too, and Henrie felt a twinge of guilt. He had caused her so much pain, so much heartache. And yet she was still willing to share this moment with him.
"Thank you for inviting me, Rylee. That was amazing," he said, feeling a sense of gratitude.
"Of course, Henrie. I'm glad you could be here," she replied, her eyes shining with joy.
"I saw you on the news today with Jake Carsons," I started to say.
"Henrie," Rylee interrupted. "We had such a good day together, one we haven't had in a long time. Do we have to ruin it?"
"No, Rylee. I'm not trying to ruin anything. I just wanted to tell you some nice things about you that I want you to know. I don't want to keep it in. I really can't, honestly." I say nervously.
"Okay, Henrie. Go ahead," she said.
I just wanted to tell you that you looked beautiful, but I do want to let you know that I will keep fighting for us. I wasn't lying when I said my heart belongs with you. You're a beautiful person and you prove that to me every day, like today when you invited me. I know this is uncomfortable for you because of what I said at that stupid interview, but you put it all aside for our child, and I love that about you. You make me want to be better, and I'm going to fight to have your beautiful self back in my arms."
Rylee chuckled and gave him a hug. "I know you love me, Henrie, and I will always have feelings for you. And I figured you wouldn't stop fighting for me. I guess we'll see," she said, waving and walking away.
