"What truth? That IS the truth." I huffed and flopped down on my bed, ignoring the suggestive look she was sending me.
"What are we doing tomorrow?" She asked, breaking the momentary silence.
"If I skip school again I'm dead meat, so that's what we'll be doing. Be prepared to endure Seven Cruel Hours Of Our Lives.""What is school exactly?" She inquired, sitting on the edge of my bed.
"It's basically a place kids go from ages 5-18 usually to learn about useless things we'll never use in life. Except that one guy who decides to buy 54 watermelons at three dollars a melon."
"Watermelon?"
"Tomorrow you'll learn."
"Ok."
"Good night Zahira."
"Good night Juno."~~~~
I woke up to my alarm the next morning, surprisingly having been able to get some sleep. I rolled out of bed quite literally and hurried to change before pounding on the wardrobe door.
"Zahira, get up! We have to go." I snapped, glancing at my clock.
"Tell the guards I want to sleep in." She groaned from the other side.
"Get your lazy butt up, we have to go!" I hissed, pulling the door open and throwing the closest piece of clothing at her face."What was that-!?"
"You weren't waking up. We have to leave."
"I thought we were friends Juno."
"We are, and that's why I can't let you be late on your first day, let's go."
With a pout she got up and began getting ready, not once looking at me without that stupid pout on her lips. She changed her hair color to an almost black color with her natural, purple tips and got dressed -very slowly might I add- in a white noodle strap tank top, a pale yellow sweater and a plaid skirt. Though it would probably catch the eyes of bullies or hormonal boys, I didn't bother trying to talk her out of it.
"Come on! We're going to be late and if I'm late I'll be in a ton of trouble." I groaned, my voice muffled by my pillow. I'd been ready to go for twenty minutes, and she only just walked out after changing.
"I'm coming I'm coming." She grumbled, rolling her eyes at me."Look, we only have minutes -if that- before my mom calls me downstairs. When I leave, I want you to-" I began, only to be cut off by mother dearest.
"JUNO! Get your lazy bum out of bed, NOW!"
"There it is." I grinned before continuing.
"Once I leave my room you have to sneak out the window like we have been and wait for me in the back ok?"
She nodded and finished getting ready while I made my way downstairs, vaguely greeting my family as I made my way past them."Juno, hold on a minute." Dad called from the dining room after I grabbed a muffin.
"I'm going to be late for school." I muttered, taking a piece off my muffin and putting it in my mouth.
"I know, but your mother wanted me to tell you we'll be leaving town for a while, she's busy packing right now."
"It wouldn't be the first time you guys are leaving Jaxon and I home alone for a while." I shrugged, pushing my hair from my face.
"Well, that's the thing. Jaxon's coming with us this time. We need you to stay behind and watch over the place."I stared at him blankly for a moment before turning around and leaving the house. It didn't really bother me, they left like this fairly frequently, the only difference is now my brothers going with. I shook my head and went around back to get Zahira, no doubt my frustration written across my face.
"Let's get going, it'll take a while." I muttered, taking her hand and leading her towards the school. She stayed silent the entire walk to school, probably sensing my mood, only briefly pausing to study the decently sized building.
"Welcome to High school. The hell on earth." I gestured to the doors and all the milling students before making my way inside with Zahira in tow.
"Just stick with me like I told you yesterday alright? Some people can be jerks to new kids." I instructed plainly, shooting some of the people -especially the boys- dirty looks."I remember." She muttered, eyes wide as she took in the scenery. I watched as her gaze landed on none other than Rune Wolf, the one guy I told her to stay away from. Her eyes practically lit up at the sight of him, her lips parting slightly as if to speak to him.
I shot her a deadly look and shook my head, not that she really saw.I swear if this girl goes against my advice and ends up getting hurt I will end him and her...
I pulled her away to my locker and opened it up, still shaking my head.
"Look, I know Rune is hot an all, but he's seriously bad news. Like the worst." I scolded her for probably the fifth time.
"I never said he was hot, I said he was earthly." She mumbled, looking down at the floor.
"On earth that's essentially the same thing. What do you really see in him anyways? He said what? Five words to you and suddenly you're a puddle of goo?" I questioned, closing my locker and leaning against it."Don't speak to me that way, it's hard enough following you around like an animal. And I can like whoever I want it's none of your business anyway." She was in a bad mood now, i could tell from her changed eye color.
"Zahira c'mon-"
"Hey Juno, hey girl I've only seen once." Quinn greeted as he approached, giving us a grin."Hey Quinn." I muttered with a sigh.
"Zahira, this is my best friend Quinn, Quinn this is my strange new friend, Zahira."
"Nice to meet you Z." He gave a mock bow in greeting.
"It's Zahira, actually." She corrected gently, holding out her hand to him, palm down. Quinn chuckled awkwardly with a quirked eyebrow and shook her hand.
