The dream world around me shook and crumbled until my eyes fluttered open and I came face to face with the alien girl, who was smiling like some axe murderer. With a Yelp, I punched her shoulder and scrambled back before I tumbled to the floor, the shock and fear of being killed in my own bedroom fueling my movements.
My elbow slammed against the hardwood, releasing a pained gasp from my lips as I struggled to recover from the initial surprise."What in the actual heck are you doing in my room?!" I hissed harshly the moment I'd sat up, glaring at the girl. She stared at me, eyes wide, with a grin on her face.
"Your castle is smaller than I thought it would be. Thank you for inviting me." Anger rushed into my veins. Not only did she completely disregard my question, she also had the audacity to think I invited her.
"I didn't invite you, not after your comment. I told you to go home." I huffed and pulled myself back on my bed."But my ship is broken?" She muttered confusedly, eyebrows drawing together.
"I told you to get it fixed! If my parents or my brother found it what do you think they're going to do? They're going to call the FBI or something and it'll get taken to Area 51 and they won't stop before they find you and bring you there to experiment on you."
She brushed her hair out of her face and crossed her arms with a small huff.
"What's Area 51? If it has something to do with me leaving you can just give up. My ship is irreparable so I'll have to stay here for the time being."I was beyond dumbfounded at this point. Although it shouldn't have really surprised me, she was an alien and most definitely doesn't understand human interaction.
"And seeing as how your dream already predicted what will happen if you refuse the princess, I suggest you help me out here!" She kept her voice low enough that it shouldn't wake the rest of the house, but it was still awkward enough I could tell she was unsure about her threat."My dream? YOU SNUCK INTO MY HEAD!?" I screeched, chucking a pillow at her and whacking her in the face with it.
"It's one thing to threaten me, but a totally different thing to go wandering in my brain. Especially when I'm asleep!""You were restless," she sat down on the corner of the bed, with a sad tone.
"You and I, we are the same. You said you felt like a freak here, no? I feel kinda the same, so I might've ran away. But they will find you accountable if they find me here sooo...." She stared at me, then grabbed ahold of my hand.
Her body started to change to an olive color -the same as mine- which was a sight to see. Her hair and eyes stayed the same.
"Should i change anything else?" She frog blinked and picked at my ratty blanket.I let out a reluctant sigh and studied her appearance for a long moment.
"No. If anyone asks we can just say your hair is dyed and you're wearing contacts."
"Died!? My hair is perfectly healthy and-"
"Relax! It's just another word for colored unnaturally. Jeez..."
"Oh..."
"JUNO SOLACE MOON WHAT ARE YOU DOING AWAKE AT THIS TIME OF NIGHT!?" My mother screamed from downstairs, the sound of her angry footsteps slamming on the stairs following not long after."Hide!" I hissed to the alien, shoving her towards the wardrobe I'd gotten from my grandmother a few years prior.
Luckily she seemed to understand the severity of the situation and allowed me to close the door, seconds before my mother slammed the door open to my room.
"What in earth are you doing up right now!?" She hissed, marching over to me and pointing an accusatory finger at me."Sorry I just- I was having another nightmare and when I woke up I thought I saw something..." I lowered my gaze in mock shame. She was definitely overreacting.
"It is three o'clock in the morning. Get to bed. If I have to come up here again there will be consequences." Her eyes slid to the wardrobe, where a small glow that I assumed to be coming from the aliens eyes shone slightly from under the door."What's in your wardrobe?"
"Just a small light. I must've forgotten to turn it off earlier." I hastily explained, giving her a tight lipped smile.
"That's wasting electricity."
"I know. I'm sorry. It won't happen again."
She let out a huff and shook her head before making her way back downstairs, muttering about how I should be put in an insane asylum.I slumped against my wardrobe in relief the moment my bedroom door was shut, taking deep breaths to slow my racing heart. Once I was sure my mother wouldn't be coming back up, I opened the wardrobe and allowed the girl to step out.
"She's.... Evil ...." She muttered, blinking at the closed door.
"I'm aware. She's just stressed I'm sure." I sighed heavily and sat on my bed, running a hand through my hair."So, what exactly is it that you want from me?"
"I want you to teach me how to blend in here."
"Yeah, because I'm the best person to be giving you advice on fitting in." I muttered sarcastically, flicking the purple part of my hair.
"You're the only one here."
"Yeah, and you practically called me a freak. You said I didn't look human." I rubbed my temples, the exhaustion creeping into my mind once again."Would you rather get taken by an elite force of Androlipian soldiers to our home planet for aiding in the princess' capture and refusing to assist?" She inquired, her tone more sure than it had been the last time she'd tried to threaten me.
"Work on your threatening skills. Also, move your ship. I don't care where, as long as no one can see it. Otherwise this whole thing will be completely pointless."~~~~
Luckily we'd been able to move the ship in a somewhat timely manner. It only took us five hours to get the massive hunk of metal from where it was to somewhere far away from the house so it wouldn't get seen. We'd only talked a small amount after we'd left the attic. We'd introduced ourselves and conversed mostly about how to act when we go out in public, especially if it's crowded.
I completely disregarded the fact that it was a school day and the moment I was released from the house I took Zahira -the alien girl- into town to get her some clothes that weren't mine.I lent her a simple pair of jeans and a shirt that she seemed to have beef with the entire time we walked to the mall. Sadly, Zahira seemed to want to look at literally everything we passed. The people, the water fountain, my favorite pretzel place -Aunty Anne's- she even tried to go into the men's bathroom.
"Can you please calm down? Act like you've actually been to a mall before."
"But I haven't! What's that? Oh and this-"
"Zahira I swear-"
"Juno?" An achingly familiar voice called from behind us.
"Quinn? What are you doing here? Are you ditching?" I interrogated my best friend, narrowing my eyes at him and the tall guy beside him.
"Of course I'm ditching! My best friend never showed up today and her brother said he had no idea where you were. Why are you skipping school? Hm?" He turned it back to me, narrowing his eyes right back."I have my reasons." I dodged.
"So do I."
Zahira shuffled slightly, her gaze stuck on he unnamed boy with my friend.
"You're very earthly." She said, smiling.
"Zahira." I hissed, lightly smacking her arm. Quinn chuckled lightly and glanced at the guy I feel stupid for not recognizing. Tall, broad shoulders, chiseled jawline, dark, fluffy hair, honey brown eyes and a 5 o'clock shadow. It could only be one guy. Rune Wolf. He's known as the schools bad boy -cliché right- and anyone who gets in his way or bothers him ends up with a pair of black eyes and a bloody nose, or worse.
"What? You said give compliments." She semi-whispered, confusion lacing her tone.
"Yes but not him! He is bad news, he's a nightmare." I hissed, glancing at him."Names Wolf. Rune Wolf." He introduced himself, offering Zahira his hand. I couldn't help but be slightly suspicious of this guy.
"Good for you. Bye!" I snapped, taking Zahira's hand and marching away, ignoring the look my best friend sent me.
"Is that how humans act to one another?" She inquired after we were far enough away from the boys.
"Not usually. But Rune is not a good guy, he's known as the schools bad boy for a reason. He beats people up for the smallest mistakes." I explained quietly."And the other boy? Quinn?"
"He's my best friend. They're on the football team together. Sometimes the idiocy of the team gets to his head and they all decide to ditch and do some stupid stuff that always lands them in detention or suspension.
"Football?" I sighed.
"A story for another day."
