Ch 11

Everyone started with the dinner and Valdis took out a portion enough for Lucas and put it in a reheatable container to keep it warm.

During dinner, everyone chatted a bit except Valdis and even Ryan got mixed up with Alen and Lisa. The scene was quite warm which lead to Valdis remembering some of her childhood memories.

When Valdis was young her house was also very warm and filled with happiness. Her father will bring things from outside for home needs, and help her mother with house chores, everyone will sit together and discuss how their day went and it was a warm scene. But it changed after a big fight. Her parents got divorced and they started living separately. She didn't know the exact reason but it was due to differences in their ideologies. At that time she was 9 years old.

Later Valdis stayed with her father and grandparents for 2 years which was quite good for her but later her father remarried since that's what her grandparents wanted. At the age of 13, she went to live with her mother since she didn't plan to remarry. And she started living alone when she became 16 and went to college.

Both her parents treated her well even after the divorce and always respected each other but she was not able to feel the warmth of home. Both her mother and father gave her a monthly allowance when she went to college and also a house which they both paid half of the cost. Later she started working and bought a shop after borrowing some money from her father which she repaid 6 months ago.

Her father didn't want her to repay but she still did. Now he had a different family and had to take care of two sons. One her stepmother brought from an earlier marriage and another his own with her stepmother. She was not very close to her two brothers but they were not on bad terms either. Just on talking basis when they meet occasionally.
