Diana felt her heart break apart as Theo left the room, not even looking at her as he left. Her parents smiled as Jasper flashed Diana his creepy, oily smile, snaked his arm suspiciously low around her waist, just above her tail, and guided her out of the throne room. When they reached an empty corridor with no guards around, Jasper suddenly stopped swimming and slid his hand from her waist to grab a deadly-looking throwing star. He pressed the sharp edge of the throwing star into Diana's back. She gasped in pain as the sharp metal sliced through the thin silk of her dress onto her bare skin, where blood poured steadily from the wound. "Do not use your power on me, or else you'll face the consequences." Diana's eyes widened. "How do you know about my power?" She asked in disbelief. "You see, I'm an imposter. I'm the son of Meria and Captain Hunter." Jasper chuckled softly, not noticing the blood gathering in a big puddle on the floor. Diana suddenly felt dizzy as her eyes started to glaze over from the blood loss. She was being threatened by the son of the most evil and powerful mermaid known in history, and the most ruthless and barbaric pirate captain to ever sail the seas.

Oh, how she wished that Theo was here to protect her, his gentle, comforting voice whispering in her ear, or having a light-hearted conversation with her throughout the 10 years that they had been best friends. Or Elizabeth, with her ways to cheer both Diana and Theo up when they were down-hearted, or her courage that Diana wished she could have.

"What do you want with me?" Diana asked, trying to keep her voice steady. "Your power, of course. And I want you to be my wife, and do every single thing I ask, whether you want to or not." Jasper said it so nonchalantly that Diana would have slapped him in the face and swam off if she wasn't so scared about the fact that red mist was starting to cloud her thoughts, and the inappropriate demands Jasper would probably make. Diana passed out and fell slowly into Jasper's arms just as Elizabeth's ever-so-familiar purple tail rounded to the corner.
