Quinn: I made sure to wake up extra early today, just so I can get Ella out of the house. But, I guess 5:00 a.m wasn't early enough.

"Ella?" I whispered as I peeped my head through her bedroom door. "Mmm..." She grumbled as she pulled her raggedy pink comforter over her head. "Ella, you know I love you, but we have to get ready now!" I whisper-yelled, as she shot up, remembering that our father was drunk the previous night.

"Leaving so soon huh..?" A tired and old voice said from behind me. I silently cursed as I turned around slowly. "Just want to get to school on time...you know." I said as nicely as I could, along with a huge fake smile.

"I'm not that stupid Quinn." He replied coldly. I just glared at him. Next thing I knew he was lunging at me. Gratefully I dodged him, but he was relentless.

By now he had grabbed me by the hair and slung me across the room. "Ella, call Kaitlyn on my phone!" I yelled as I kicked him in the stomach. Sure, he has slapped me before, but its never been this bad.

I heard her screaming into the phone as I continued to block myself from this hungover monster. Once I was free from his grasp I ran and grabbed Ella, dragging her into my room. I slammed the door shut and locked it. "She said her mom coming to pick us up." She sniffles as I threw my black Nirvana sweatshirt over her. Luckily her pjs consisted of pants.

I nodded as I began to pack a few outfits in my bag. "Quinn!" My drunken father yelled as he clashed his fists against my door. I dug through my drawers until I found a few outfits for Ella that I've been keeping with me. Suddenly the poundings on the door got louder. "QUINN!!" He yelled even louder than the poundings.

"Quinn..." Ella mumbled as she wrapped her small arms around my waist. "I guess that means they're here." I replied as calmly as I could. I quietly slid my window open and helped her through it. Once we had escaped through the window we ran to the front of the house, and jumped in Kaitlyn's moms white mini van.

Ella was holding onto me the whole time. "I'm sorry Quinn." Kaitlyn and her mother said in unison. "Yeah, me too..." I whispered, my voice cracking. "Mom said we don't have to go to school if we don't want to. The college exams are almost over and it's almost time for the summer break." Kaitlyn whispered quietly.

"Do you have any specific tests or anything you have to do like that?" I asked as I looked down at Ella, her grasp still holding. She nodded her head sideways and rubbed her eyes lightly. "Okay...I guess that means we're staying home." I said with a small smile.

Kaitlyn nodded and returned the smile.

Soon we were at Kailyns house. "Well, welcome back to the casa." Kaitlyns mom said happily as she stuck the key in the lock. "Mom..." Kaitlyn whined. I just laughed.

"Well...what do you wanna do?" Kaitlyn sighed as she fell face first on her bed. Her mom had taken Ella into the guest room and gave her some of Kaitlyns old toys. "Well, you could tell me more about this 'band' you were talking about." I replied, trying to lighten the mood.

Her whole mood changed and her eyes grew wide. "Well, they're super hot...they have voices of angels...and they're my obsession." She said in 'awe'. I laughed at how love-sick she acted. "Well, I love them." She said in defense. "Okay, okay." I said as I put my hands up, surrendering.
