Cody's POV:

I was watching Ashley sleep. I had just woken up. She was wrapped up in my arms, and I couldn't help but look at her. She is so beautiful. How did I get so lucky?

Her phone went off on the night stand. I reached over for it with my free hand, looking at the caller ID. "Dad".

I woke her up gently. "What time is it?" she says softly, making my heart flutter at how cute she is. "Your dad is calling" I say and goes silent, but answer the phone. I know how much she dreads becoming a big sister. I know about her brother and how she feels. My siblings are my pride and joy, so I could never relate - but I also dont carry the same baggage. Had I, I am sure I'd been feeling the same way.

"oh, cool, what's the gender?" Ashley says, casually. She doesn't seem to care much.

She yawns and say "uhm, i'll think about it, but when do you come home?"

"Okay" she says, flatly, following up with a few "sure" and "alright", before hanging up.

"So?" I ask expectantly.

"Well. She had a girl. They want me to choose her name. They have to stay at the hospital for a while since she's in the NICU"

I look at her. I know all of this is draining her energy. "Okay, how do you feel about it?" I ask. I have always been taught that talking about things makes you cope, but I am not sure Ashley shares that view.

She lays back, facing the ceiling. "I don't know" she sigh. "It a lot of pressure".

"I know. Luckily you have some time to think about it"

"Yeah" she replies. By the tone of her voice, I can hear her hearts not in it.

Ashley cuddle closer to me. I stroke her arm gently. "Lets just go back to sleep okay?". I kiss her soft.

"Sure baby"

She smiles before drifting back to sleep.

Ashley's POV;

Someone was shaking me. I groan and open my eyes to see Cody. "You have school today". I pull the sheets over my head, ignoring him.

This weeks is such a rollercoaster.

I also can't believe Cody slept over. This is the first time I have had a boy in my bed over night. What surprises me the most is how completely normal it felt. There was no pressure, and no hidden innuendos. Just us.

I eventually get up when Cody informs me that I only have an hour before school starts. Knowing the school is ten minutes by car away, I jump in the shower. I hear Cody walking down the stairs, presumably to get breakfast.

I envy how he doesn't have to go to school. He does all his school at home. How lucky!

I get out of the shower and hastily find an outfit. I decide to go with jean shorts, a white t-shirt and a flannel tied around my waist. I braid my hair and put on some make up.

I usually am a girly-girl, but I also like to dable in more "tomboy" looking clothes as well. I really just put on whatever I feel like that day.

I brush my teeth and go downstairs. Cody is in the kitchen preparing a bowl of cereal for me. How did I deserve this guy?

"Thank you" I smile.

"I'll drive you, but you have to hurry up, otherwise you'll be late"

I am very thankful for him these past days. I do think he is my first love you know. I'm not sure I love him just yet, but the way he's making me feel, I definitely will someday.
