Bella had just finished her list of chores to do when there was a singular knock on the door. She sighed and went to go answer it but there was no one around, she looked down and saw a rock.

"What the-?" She picked up the rock and turned it over.

"Bone, 7."

"A kegger? Seriously?" Bella groaned and brought the rock inside.

"All right you can't understand the Outer Banks without understanding the boneyard. It's kinda like a three-layer burrito. There's us and our friends, the working-class derelicts from the cut. Then there are the kooks, the rich second-homers. They're mostly from poncey-ass boarding schools, just trustafarian posers. Our natural enemies. And then there are the Tourons. Totally clueless, here for a week on vacation with their families. Chum for the sharks."

Bella adjusted her backpack as she leaned against a tree on the outskirts of the party. She used to really enjoy parties, back when she would go with the Pouges, and Kook parties were always way too intense for her liking.

But she wanted to keep an eye on John B and her other former friends, just in case. She'd had a bad feeling so since there wasn't any chance she would get in trouble she figured why not.

A few Tourons had tried to come up to her and chat and she tried to be polite and respond, but they eventually got bored and went to find some more beer.

She messed with her shark tooth necklace and looked around, the sun was starting to set pretty quickly but her line of sight caught onto JJ immediately. Bella saw him turn in her direction and she quickly looked away.

"What is she doing here?" Kiara scoffed.

John B asked, "Huh?"

JJ quickly looked to who Kiara was looking at, tearing his attention away from Bella, and noticed Kiara was looking at Sarah Cameron. He shook his head and turned his attention back to serving beer to those who wanted some.

"You made it," JJ said from behind her.

Bella quickly turned around, "Um yeah. I got the message about it and well-" she shrugged.

"You usually never come to these things."

She avoided his gaze, "Ah well my mom is still on the mainland so I figured why not."

He nodded and leaned against the tree, "I saw you volunteering earlier. They only let people certified do that. Congrats."

She gave him a small smile, "Ya thank you. Just in basics, ya know that stuff you don't have to go to actual medical school for. Shoupe's really the only one who lets me. And only in real emergencies."
