The Mother and Her Daughter

It was raining, it had been raining for a long time now. The wind whipped and howled around the lone figure of a woman, a small bundle held to her chest. She limped her way through the muddy forest ground, the squish of her boots unheard through the roar of the wind. Blood trailed behind her, in much too large drops. She could hear wolves howling on the wind and she could feel the eyes of a thousand creatures on her back. She spotted a clearing with a small stream not too far ahead and she knew if she couldn't make it anywhere else she'd make it there. The wind began to die down and the rain slowed to a drizzle as she came into the clearing. The world was deathly quite as she took a few steps forward so that she was just before the stream and fell to her knees. Pulling the swaddled baby from her chest. She looked down into the unphased grey eyes of her child, her tiny baby girl.

"You're my whole world darling, I'm sorry you'll have to be alone...but your strong, I can see it in your eyes, you'll make it in ways your mom-in ways I can't..." a snap just outside the clearing. The mother turned to see a spider looming just outside the entrance of their temporary sanctuary. She scooped up her daughter and limped over and place her in the tall grass. She would die she knew, but maybe someone would find her little World and raise her. The spider rushed forward, it got one good bite in, its poison spreading through her dying body when suddenly the spider shrieked and fled. The mother collapsed, her eyes landing on where she had put her daughter. A pair of glowing purple eyes, a shadow of a man broke from the trees. He was tall, his seemingly mouthless face scrunched in curiosity. He blinked largely down at her, almost like death surprised him. She smiled and she felt that maybe once upon a time he'd give a sad smile in return. His hands sharp as they were, were shaking as if he didn't know what to do with himself.

"Hello..." she breathed her eyes beginning to glaze.

He jumped a bit, his hand coming up to open and close at her.

"Can you help my baby?" his head turned to the side. He had gotten closer, so now he only stood a few feet away, "there." she pointed to where her baby lay, she knew she could be killing her little girl, but this creature...this Enderman...or boy (she wasn't sure) had saved them. She was falling too fast to have any other choice. He walked to where she'd pointed, reaching the area in three long strides. He bend down despite his long arms and lifted the now sleeping baby. He looked first to her daughter then over to the mother with wide unbelieving eyes.

The mother laughed, a real laugh and the sound was echoed back by the Ender as he walked over and set the baby in her arms for her to say her last goodbyes.

She kissed the baby's little forehead effectively waking the little girl.

"You will be ok darling, this sweet creature will help you." she could see his hands flexing on his knees; fidgeting. The daughter outstretched her tiny hands in a grabbing motion just as the Ender had and she smiled.

"Goodbye my little World, I love you...forever and always..." her eyes slid shut but she opened them a second later to look at the Ender, his hands fidgeting as he waited.

"Stop fidgeting, you have to take her." outstretching his arms to receive the little bundle.

He stood up and looked down at the mother smiling up at him. No one had ever looked him in the eye like she was, and she seemed grateful to him.

"T-Thank....you..." her eyes slid closed and her expression contorted in pain, the venom going completely through her body. His glowing eyes never left her face. He thought she was dead already so he was surprised when she opened her eyes and smiled.
