Ink's POV
I was standing in my room once more, waiting for when the guards would let me out. They had suggested that they stand in front of my doors so the werewolf could not enter my room.
I picked up my sketchbook and turned to a blank page. Walking over to the glass doors of my balcony, I pushed them open and walked out. The light breeze was calming however the once singing birds were replaced by the sounds of yelling guards. After I sat down I put my pencil to the empty page and began to lightly draw.
The sounds of the shouting guards dimmed down which caused me to lower my book. I let out a small scream when I saw a figure standing on the railing of the balcony. However I became relaxed when I recognized the person in front of me.
Me: Reaper?
The werewolf smiled as he hopped down to join me.
Reaper: Hi Ink.
Me: Why are you here?
Reaper: Because my friend suddenly disappeared without a word so I tracked you to check that you weren't dead.
He sat in the chair next to me and reclined in it.
Reaper: Those mortal guards are well trained dogs. It took me awhile to get rid of them.
Me: Why are you not with Geno?
The werewolf's expression changed when I mentioned his soulmate.
Reaper: He suspended my stay at the castle.
Me: Why? What did you do?
Reaper: I... I don't know. He didn't say why.
Reaper sighed which somewhat made me feel pity for him.
Me: You have the ability to read his mind, do you not?
Reaper: That's a bloodsucker thing. I can speak through the mind but I can't hear it. However werewolves have a different ability. We can feel what our soulmate is feeling. And what Geno was feeling was... confusing to say the least.
Me: Why do you say that?
He brought his knees to his chest and rested his chin on them.
Reaper: There were so many. Confusion, excitement, hesitation, irritation, even hatred. To me, he seems like he doesn't want me around him but does at the same time. I can't get him to see what I see. What do I do, Ink?
Me: I do not know. I do not quite understand love myself, especially through a vampire. That sort of feeling has caused a lot of conflict in my life. I was almost killed by it, I was forced to move away, I was hunted because of it, and now I am in a home that I am not familiar with. However I know that whatever Error feels for me is genuine, even if I do not feel the same way towards him yet. I know that I will love him one day since fate has tied us together. For now, I will continue to be annoyed with him because I was moved here against my will.
I leaned over and patted Reaper on the shoulder.
Me: Geno will come around one day to loving you. I suppose for us mortals, you just need to be patient with us since we are not as connected with love as werewolves and vampires.
A small smile appeared on his face.
Reaper: Thanks Ink. I'm glad that I have a life debt to you as it made us friends.
My bedroom doors suddenly opened. We turned around to see guards standing in the doorway. They noticed Reaper and instantly rushed towards him to apprehend him. I stood from my chair in order to get their attention and I began to speak.
Me: There is no need. This werewolf is my friend and he simply wished to see me. He serves no threat.
To my surprise, the guards bowed to me and left the room. There was a part of me that believed they would not listen to my orders as there was a werewolf in a vampire kingdom.
I heard Reaper laugh behind me. I gave him a confused look.
Reaper: They really are well trained dogs. The king of bloodsuckers is probably clawing at the walls with the smell of my presence near his mate.
Me: Error is sleeping.
Reaper: Not when I'm around. The smell of their thousands year long enemy will instantly alert their senses.
Me: Why do werewolves and vampires have conflict between them?
The wolf sighed, almost regretting what he was going to say.
Reaper: This has caused the death of many innocent lives. Some vampires and werewolves like to...
