Error's POV

I read a book in the library, rereading the history of my people. I remember nights when my father would bring me into his office and spend the night teaching of how vampires were first born and why we are like this. In fact, he was able to meet the first vampire before she died. He never told me her name but I know her by the name of Bloody Mary.

Bloody Mary was the main leader and patron of our race. She was practically was a goddess. Our entire religion was based around her since she breathed life to us all.

I closed the book when I reached the last page. I had to admit, the book was good. I always found Mary to be such a fascinating woman by how she was created.

There was nothing to do in the castle besides reading. My discipline training had been finished and it felt strange not hearing the sounds of my family walking around outside the room. I was not allowed outside since my father requested that I keep myself hidden from the kingdom until my crowning. It was tradition that the new king of vampires would be unknown so there could be a small surprise.

I was nervous about my crowning. Xander had reminded me that it was two days away which made me feel so though I had not prepared adequately enough for the event. I was afraid that I might not be a good ruler or that my subjects would dislike me.

The library doors opened and I saw Xander walk in. I was somewhat startled by him as I was not used to his new appearance. He bowed to me as he spoke.

Xander: His grace has awoken.

I held in my sudden bloodlust, standing calmly from my chair. With the coming blood moon it is best if I do not express much.

Me: Very well. Where is he?

Xander: In his chambers, your majesty.

He led me upstairs towards the guest room. Despite only being awake for a day, my butler has well memorized the layout of the castle. Even I had trouble sometimes remembering where certain rooms were, like the pool room and the garden.

Once we reached the door, he opened to allow me to enter the bedroom.

Looking around, I saw that the bed was empty. The covers had already been fixed by the maids.

'The servants are quite efficient.'

I thought as I looked around the room more, noticing that the balcony door had been pushed open to let in the chilly night air. A silhouette was sat in a chair with a sketchbook in his hands.

Walking outside, I glanced at Ink however he never returned it. I could tell he knew I was there but he refused to acknowledge my presence. He was angry with me. I would be too if I was taken out of the kingdom against my will for the second time.

I sat down in the chair next to him. Taking a small peek at his sketch, I saw that it was an exact replica of the town that was surrounding the castle. No thoughts ran through his mind, nothing about me or the place that he is in. I started to think of something to spark a conversation between us. I needed to repair the friendship that I had with Ink and forge a love between us.

Me: It is a beautiful night, is it not?

There was no response from him.

Me: There are no clouds, the moon is bright, and the town is lively. I can see why you took inspiration from it for your sketch.

I had earned a small glance from him. However, there were still no words as Ink continued to draw on the page.

Me: The people of this kingdom are excited to see you and I. The king and his grace.

His eyes narrowed, still looking at his page but flipped to a new one to start another drawing.

'That was the wrong thing to say.'

Me: I... was thinking about taking a walk in the private garden tonight. It has these lovely flowers that my father always talked about when I was younger. They grow around a statue of the goddess in my religion. The petals of the flowers are blood red with black centers. I think they are a dahlia spieces.

Ink: I have heard about them.

I turned my head in surprise. Ink's eyes widen slightly, seeming to also not be expecting himself to respond so suddenly. However he returned to his sketch once more. I faced the town but now a small smile had appeared.

Me: Would you like to join me, Ink?

There was no response until Ink abruptly closed the book and stood from his chair.

Ink: ...
