February 22, 12:32 pm.

Your day had been rather slow. Rather boring.

Tamara was travelling with her family, she said she was going to Italy or something (you really couldn't remember), and you knew Declan was working today so you two couldn't go for lunch.

You were just bored.

You rolled over in your bed, eyes falling on your phone.

You picked it up, sending a string of texts into the Instagram group chat that held most of your local friends, and a few overseas friends, and stared for a good twenty minutes.

Nothing.

Your fingers tapped on the screen again, scrolling through your contact information.

A number caught your eye and you smiled.

Simon.

This was an emergency, after all. If you had to sit alone, bored, for another minute you were going to lose your mind.

You tapped the name and typed up a simple 'hey'.

You waited, eyes squinting at the phone in anticipation.

'Who is this?'

You should have expected that, you didn't give him your number in exchange.

'guess.'

'I don't play games. Say who you are or stop texting me.'

You frowned.

He was no fun right now... Or ever, really.

'it's (Y/n).'

'I gave you my number for emergencies only.'

'this is an emergency.'

'Is it?'

'yeah. I'm bored LOL'

'That's not an emergency. That's just a problem for you.'

'you're mean.'

'I'm being nice.'

You rolled on your back, phone held above your face precariously.

You thought for a moment.

Maybe he could help you change the lightbulb in your bathroom. You were much too short to reach it without a stool, and you weren't a fan of climbing on things. The fear of falling was very real.

You were also just too lazy to do it.

'do you know how to change lightbulbs'

'Of course I do. I'm not stupid.'

'then I have an emergency. i need you to change my lightbulb.'

'Are you making this up?'

'no.'

You waited a minute for a reply. Yet none came.

A knock on your front door made you jump slightly, dropping your phone on your face.

Ouch.
